🤓 🌙✨👽🛸 - i learned today that Jaron Lanier’s favorite application of VR is training surgeons in simulators and i felt very validated. i first heard of Jaron on my first solo visit to SF in 2008ish. He was the keynote speaker at UX week and i bought his book “you are not a gadget” in anticipation of his talk. it did not disappoint then or today. overall a great deal of his perspective resonates with me and what feels important and worthwhile about my work. and i’m grateful to hear his critiques of technology and reality.
