This project is so close to our hearts at @denolagreyconsulting . When @daratreseder commisioned us to help celebrate Zoë Asta’s 10th birthday, we knew it had to honour tradition, legacy, and community. In Yoruba culture, Ayẹyẹ Ọmọ Ọdún Mẹ́wàá is a rite of passage. A young girl’s turning point as she steps into her journey of growth. We wanted this film to capture the essence of that moment: three generations of women, each one the living manifestation of her mother’s prayers. It was also important to reflect Zoë’s mixed heritage and her family’s faith; threads that are central to her story. In addition to producing this film, our team also led the fashion direction and wardrobe curation for the family. Those looks will be revealed in our next post. ✨ A moment. A milestone. A legacy. Incredibly honoured to have styled @sopedirisu for the Cannes Film Festival alongside the brilliant @helenseamons My Father’s Shadow is the first Nigerian film in history to be officially selected and premiered at Cannes — a monumental moment for all of us. I had the privilege of seeing this film, and it’s truly a masterpiece — crafted with care, intention, and heart. Sope’s performance is transcendent: raw, moving, and unforgettable. Congratulations to akinoladaviesjr and the entire team on this groundbreaking achievement. It was only right that he wore a Nigerian brand for the premiere. This Sisiano look is especially meaningful, adorned with handwritten affirmations of love — a poetic nod to the emotional weight of the occasion. A Regal Affair: Olufunbi’s Traditional Wedding Look by Dénola Grey Consulting December brought us another unforgettable groom—Olufunbi—who entrusted Dénola Grey Consulting to craft a look as striking as it was regal. For his traditional wedding, Funbi envisioned a bold, monochromatic aesthetic, and we collaborated closely with @rogue_ng to bring that vision to life. The foundation of his ensemble? A masterful blend of structured mikado satin and sumptuous velvet, creating a silhouette that was sleek yet full of depth. To elevate the design, we meticulously hand-stoned the entire outfit, infusing it with an opulence that caught the light at every turn. Every detail was intentional. To amplify the grandeur, we adorned him with black glass beads layered with traditional coral beads, accented in silver—an elegant complement to his @ferragamo silver-strap watch. And for the perfect finishing touch, we turned to our longtime favorite, @loluesq , selecting a pair of heavily embellished crystal shoes that seamlessly matched the richness of his look. This is how I closed out 2024—Joshua’s wedding in December. We started working on his looks back in May, and he’s easily one of my favorite clients. The process allowed me to push myself creatively, resulting in 5 looks I’m incredibly proud of. Here are the first 2: Look 1 (Bronze): Inspired by the ceremonial military suits of Western royal families, particularly their intricate cord detailing, I reimagined this concept in an Agbada design. Collaborating with @ugomonye.official was the perfect choice—his flawless execution truly brought the vision to life. Look 2 (Falling Stars/ Emerald): This became everyone’s favorite. I envisioned a crystal-encrusted design inspired by falling stars. With stones and beads meticulously hand-placed over hundreds of hours, @rogue_ng transformed the concept into a dazzling reality. The way the stones captured the light was pure magic—no filters needed. Creating these looks was a journey filled with unforgettable moments.
