It’s been an intense, chaotic, maddening, yet exciting two years with this film, and I’m not sure there’s anything else I can meet this moment with other than gratitude. So many obstacles threatened its existence but God got us through. . I’m thankful to every cast and crew member who poured into this film. Every post-production talent that gave their best to breathe more life into it. I’m grateful to still be standing at the end of it all. It’s no longer mine, which is a very scary thing to contend with. Please watch it, tell your loved ones to do the same. It’s a small film, but it’s got plenty of heart. Thank you. 🍾 . Hello. I made a film — my first feature — this is the first poster. I wrote, directed and co-produced it. It’s out on Amazon Prime, January 9th. Pleased to share that two of my babies, “I AM AN EASY ONE TO FORGET,” and “Àlááfíà Ni”, which I co-directed alongside its creator, @tobionabolu , will premiere this evening (and will screen again on the 11th) at the 27th Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur. Both these films are reflections of my current mental and physical states, and I’m sure those of many others. These two were my first and second attempts at directing and I am proud of what we achieved. I thank my wonderful collaborators for helping birth these beauties. Àlááfíà Ni will screen at the 27th Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur in Switzerland this November. Right now, with so many concurrent wars, genocides, and continued systemic oppression, the Yorùbá concept of àlááfíà (loosely translated as inner-peace and well-being) feels pertinently urgent. For those of us in relative safety, how can we be responsible with our privileges, to embody balance, peace, and spiritual ease, in our behaviours and actions? What will it take, for us collectively, and on a planetary level, to return to and vibrate towards the frequency of àlááfíà?
