Inspired by vintage form, with a point of reference in the Victorian era, in its lace, its embroidery, its sense of grandeur. Reimagined into traditional Yoruba looks. For Fisayo, a corseted blouse paired with a skirt with a tiered train, both richly adorned with hand-crafted embroidery. For Folabi, an agbada defined by laser-cut and embroidered detailing, finished with a sculpted fila, subtly inspired by a sailor’s cap. The Romantic Look. The Mazelle team went above and beyond to create one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have seen in a while. From the laser cut Aso-Oke layered over the iridescent metallic agbada to the structured cap drawing from sailor and garrison silhouettes, reimagined with Yoruba fila influence, every detail felt intentional, elevated, and unforgettable. This is the kind of piece dreams are made of. I cannot thank the entire Atafo team enough for their dedication, the countless hours, the back and forth, and the care poured into every detail. Most especially, thank you to Uncle Mai for his unwavering support through the ebbs and flows of this entire journey, and for showing so much love to Folabi and Fisayo. This was such a beautiful partnership, built with so much care, and I will always give Uncle Mai and the entire Atafo team their flowers. They have been such an important part of my creative journey, and it means so much that they were part of this special moment in Folabi and Fisayo’s life as well.
