Rehearsal setup for Departure - I create different “instrument” for different projects. The setup process of the “instrument” is like a ritual for me. Put myself together before producing any sounds. And it’s always to do with a lot of cables! They are the essential element under the table! Using our 360-degree hydrophone set, immersive compositions, and unreal engine, we recorded sounds from coral reef, fish, whales and other underwater creatures, integrating them into original 3D compositions and visuals. A whale recording trip in Maui - it was a success! We dangled ourselves from our kayak lifeline in the middle of the ocean waiting for the whale to come - and it did! It was one of the most powerful things I’ve experienced - when my body is surrounded by the enormous and intricate sound, I felt completely in awe for this noisy creature. 1. The super ambix hydrophone set - four H1a hydrophones + Tascam X6 + DIY @bluerobotics diving enclosure + Insta360 2. The all-mighty whale solo - it sounds loving and like a baby (our whale interpretation) 3. Happily kayaking back after catching the sound ♥️ 4. Interviewing Mr Turtle 5. Beautiful school of fish and their noisy sound - I was obsessed with the yellow tang 6. Hawaiian sea cucumber 7.
