The images in this book go beyond the subject of water, offering a striking visual experience. In Pyo Kisik’s photographs, the Hangang appears at times as a fluid, painterly texture, at others as a metallic sheen, and sometimes even as an unfamiliar material—almost like a sculpted solid. 《이야사사 イヤササ》 《이야사사》는 삼삼의 5번째 사진집이다. 누군가에게는 유년 시절 유토피아, 누군가에게는 기나긴 의무를 마치고 새로운 도약을 위한 쉼터. 오키나와는 그런 곳이었다. 이리오모테와 이시카키에서의 열흘 남짓한 시간 동안 삼삼은 ’이야사사‘라는 주제로 다양한 이미지를 담았다. 오키나와의 전통 추임새 ‘이야사사’는 단순한 리듬과 운율이 아니다. 삼삼은 ‘이야사사’를 보다 추상적으로 해석했다. 가령 ‘아이야’와 ‘이야사사’를 나누어 부르는 여자와 남자의 묘한 합. 차가운 바다에 창백한 해가 닿을 때 피어오르는 아지랑이. 해가 질 무렵 윈드스크린 너머로 흩날리는 꽃잎. 이같이 야릇하면서도 아릿한 감정들이 피어오르는 공간이 우리에겐 이야사사였다. 그렇기에 ’이야사사‘는 단순한 여행기 이전에 이국의 섬만이 간직할 수 있는 무상하면서도 진득한 감정선들이 담겨 있다. 저자: 이수운, 이승권, 허남호 출간: 삼삼 @33.foto 64쪽, 200 × 297 mm, 미싱 제본 ——— 《IYASASA イヤササ》 《IYASASA イヤササ》 is the fifth photo book by 33 FOTO. For someone, Okinawa is a utopia of childhood; or Okinawa is a place of rest after fulfilling long-held works, a pause before a new leap forward. Over a little more than ten days on the islands of Iriomote and Ishigaki, 33 FOTO captured a range of images under the theme of IYASASA. “Iyasasa,” a traditional Okinawan call, is more than a simple rhythm or chant. 33 FOTO approaches it in a more abstract sense: the subtle harmony between a man and a woman calling out aiya and iyasasa to one another; the shimmering haze rising as a pale sun meets the cold sea; petals drifting beyond a windshield at dusk.
