~ An Ode to Tailoring ~
There’s a series of images from the ‘50s and ‘60s captured in Kinshasa by one of my favorite photographers, Jean Depara. These imagine give a glimpse of what life might have been like back then and the vibrant nightlife of Kin. They also remind me of photos of my father when he was younger- when his life moved to a very different beat than the one we grew up knowing (also my Dad seemed to be pretty “vibey” compared to how strict he was with us 😐).
The images also explain why I gravitate towards monochromatic visuals and tones — a consistent reference point...Suits are my first love when styling (both myself and others). I’ve always been drawn to the nod to authority, subtle boldness and the refined structure of tailoring…
Anyway, all this to say, Happy Met Monday!

Somewhere between the fleeting moments and the still ones, between the chaotic days and the late nights, I remembered to document life as it happened (rare sightings of myself included ).
I’ve been terrible at posting , but here’s proof—outside of my camera roll—that I was here. That I lived, explored, had fun, and shared space with beautiful souls who inspire growth and make this world that much more exciting 🫶🏾.

The Decks: Feminine Sartorialism
Sewing skills really come in handy when you need to whip up an outfit the night before a shoot (last minute inspo ).
I found some left over fabric from curtains my mom had made and a table cloth I’m sure she probably won't miss to create this deconstructed suit. It’s only deconstructed because I ran out of fabric 🙃.
S/O to this team 🤍. I'm happy for @bvssiie_ ‘s new life in Australia, but pretty bummed I don't get to shoot with her!
