Filmmaker @keithbenza is in the middle of a breakout run. His lens has already carried him from township sets to international stages, and now his work is being recognised with back‑to‑back festival screenings and a Metro FM nomination.
At the centre of this momentum is Mamma, the stunning Zee Nxumalo music video that fuses 1950s nostalgia with the pulse of Amapiano
In our conversation, he reflects on the craft, the discipline, and the cultural urgency behind his breakout run.

We’re proud and honoured to be nominated for MMA26 Best Music Video Category. It’s all thanks to Zee Nxumalo and her team for trusting me to direct the music video. A big thank you to my amazing team and an even bigger thank you to everyone on screen who stayed through the long hours up until the last shot.
With every award show or ceremony the most important thing is the recognition. Of course if you ask me I’ll stand 10 toes down to say we have the best video but really and truly, the win here is the nomination as it says that our effort is seen and recognised. It gives me so much gratitude because we were intentional about every single aspect of our world of story.
With all that being said. Vote for Mamma. Airtime bundles on me 😉
Thank you @metrofmsa 🍾
I had the pleasure of being Kususa’s Creative Director for their album drop, “A Life Worth Living”.
From conceptualising the world of story, making the music art covers, directing the music video down to planning the roll out.
It’s definitely more stressful than handling one piece of the puzzle but the end product is more rewarding.
Thanks to @kususaofficial , @wearemayonie , @universalmusicsa for trusting me and everyone who worked on this project.

Another year around the sun. Spent it on a flight back home from Dubai thinking I should be out spending a bag with loud music around me but I’m starting to enjoy the silence a little more. It maybe shows in my engagement. I’m yet to find the balance within the noise.
Nevertheless, I always appreciate the love.
