Heion House – the latest residential project by @studiohagenhall sees the transformation of a Grade II listed late-Georgian terrace in North London.The house has been re-configured into a series of multi-functional and interconnected spaces inspired by mid-century and modernist Japanese interiors. In undertaking the project, Pend noted the lack of family homes in Canonmills outside of the large 4+ bedroom terraced options on the market. For its 101st anniversary, Sirigos – a deluxe furniture manufacturer, founded in Athens in 1924 – invited architects and designers to create new furniture inspired by its archive. Local Local’s Parrot Chair draws inspiration from the brand’s boxy interpretation of the early modern telephone seat, affectionately known in Greek as the ‘gossip seat’.Parrot acknowledges the function and character of the original without replicating it. Crafted from unvarnished maple wood with exposed joinery and no screws, this becomes a pared-back place for meditation, observation, and rest. A new home of rammed earth and stone feels right at home on the windswept Jersey coastline, designed by @fieldworkarchitects.Shaped by the raw beauty of its surroundings, Wishing Well exudes an elemental character, needed to withstand the islands’ fierce weather conditions. A spine of rammed earth anchors the house, while locally quarried granites wraps the three bed property in a protective embrace. Horizon Youth Zone by @johnputtickassociates is a key component of Grimsby’s regeneration – a vibrant centre for young people that reimagines a series of Grade II Listed warehouses and historic maltings.The multimillion pound project revives these buildings, introducing arts studios, performance space, music room, a sports hall, fitness and martial arts gyms, social spaces and café.A series of new-build structures completes the composition. The sports hall is designed with a saw-tooth roof, echoing the industrial character, while a metal-mesh volume houses the climbing wall.
