“Canon Mews presented a new opportunity for us as a practice. Taking on the dual role of architect and developer enabled us to explore every stage of the design and development process, and reinforce our belief that architects are uniquely equipped to unlock constrained sites.
From acquisition through design, delivery and marketing, we approached each step with an intent that allowed us to question convention in delivering new build homes. Our joint venture with @glossprojects was fundamental to this, ensuring a construction process that was collaborative and uncompromising in its pursuit of quality.
With Canon Mews, we hope to open broader conversations about the potential of small sites, prioritising thoughtful design, material quality and everyday domestic delight.”

At Canon Mews, we worked with local artist @arran.rahimian to create a series of bespoke works.
Drawing directly from the spaces and materials found on site, Arran’s works are immediately contextual. As part of his process, a 4m x 3m canvas was placed on site for 6 weeks, with each mark a reflection of the construction. An approach rooted in craft, context and material honesty; values we hold close within our own practice.
It has been a real joy to work with Arran and witness these pieces taking shape alongside the architecture.

Whitberry has been shortlisted for an @eaa.edinburgh award.
The project involved the renovation of a beautiful, Grade B listed farmhouse in East Lothian, and is complemented by a contemporary extension that unifies a patchwork of historic outbuildings to the rear.

Created in close collaboration with our friends @cataloginteriors , the project offered a unique opportunity to combine two apartments into a cohesive home, shaped by warm, tactile materials and a holistic approach to both architecture and interiors.

At Catalog House, the kitchen was relocated to the former living room, where an east-facing bay window fills the breakfast table with morning light.
This careful intervention within the historic fabric pairs a calm, contemporary palette with the ornate detailing of the original architecture.

Catalog House reimagines two former flats into a cohesive family home in Trinity.
A gently curved extension creates connection to the west facing garden, while internal spaces were completely reimagined to provide clarity and flow.
It was a joy to work with our long time friends and collaborators @cataloginteriors on their own home, with an intuitive design process enriched by their own creativity and taste.

Drawing inspiration from Tadao Ando’s Row House in Osaka, Canon Mews uses a series of courtyards and terraces to pull natural light deep into the home.
The carefully positioned courtyards mediate seamlessly between inside and outside, while providing an optimal balance of light and privacy.
