A huge thank you to the @sidemen for their visit to @legacyyouthzone ahead of their 2026 Charity Match that took place at Wembley Stadium raising over £6m for charity. Through their charity, Bright Side, and in partnership with OnSide, they’re helping ensure young people have access to the opportunities, support, and safe spaces they deserve. During their visit, they saw first-hand the impact of a Youth Zone – from state-of-the-art facilities to the life-changing relationships with youth workers who make these spaces truly come alive. It’s these trusted adults who help young people build confidence, develop new skills, and feel part of something positive. We also heard directly from young people whose lives have been transformed – from feeling isolated and lacking confidence, to gaining qualifications, trying new experiences, and stepping into brighter futures. With support like this, we can continue to reach over 60,000 young people each year – and grow even further. Did you catch the @bbc5live on Tuesday last week, broadcasting live from @bdyouthzone ? As part of a focus on youth employment, the BBC’s Business Correspondent Hannah M. spent the day at the Youth Zone speaking to youth workers and young people to show the reality behind the latest youth unemployment rate (which for 16–24-year-olds, now stands at 14.3%) while reporting for the lunchtime and drivetime shows. Huge thanks to youth worker Samina for bringing to life so brilliantly how Youth Zones first build young people’s confidence, and then, by connecting them to opportunity and the right support, help them build skills and belief in what’s possible for their futures. And to Hannah and the BBC Radio 5 Live team for helping shine a light on the importance of youth work support in helping young people prepare for the world of work.
