@seanbrobins wanted our guest bathroom mirrors in the desert to really let our favorite visitors see all their beauty now they’re available at @studiovandenakker in a variety of shapes and sizes and metal finishes! lime plaster walls from @ressource_americas and @ressource_peintures white oak paneling from @thehudsoncompany my favorite linear sconce from aamsco double pedestal sink from @waterworks to soften the direct desert sun, we devised a system of @shimmerscreen for the skylights (getting them all even was a covid-era undertaking of sean’s, for which i remain grateful) my favorite tile in the house is in the wet room beyond - many thousands of multi-glazed mosaics @ddstile - which our tile installer junior called his chiclet bathroom thanks to all our crews for getting this right, and to @marklumerman from my team for helping bring these mirrors to life photographed for @archdigest by @shadedeggesphotography and styled by @rowelosangeles read the story by @kylehoepner through the link in my bio #ryanlawsonllc

the dining room of a houston project i worked on for several years - completely remotely - before seeing the space in the flesh or meeting my client @gregorylofgren and his husband donny this space was previously the living room, but based on our first or second zoom call, i thought it would work better as a more flexible entrance slash work space slash dining room table and chairs both @knoll classics antique italian curved sofa reupholstered in a great floral linen velvet by @michellenussbaumer for @clarencehousetextiles iron branch chandelier by @paulferrante.inc with striped candles greg found locally (also greg and donny get a major trusting prize for not falling out of their chairs when i recommended a non-electrified chandelier) jute carpets i used throughout the house to unify the spaces from @revival vintage french cabinet from @obsoleteinc with a huge antique belgian slumped glass traffic mirror in a bright blue metal frame roman plaster fireplace by @ressource_americas and @ressource_peintures topped with a collection of wood sculptures donny made over many years photographed by @taylorhallobrien story by @hardylon for @archdigest #ryanlawsonllc

thinking today about a house we designed several years ago and never professionally photographed of course we photograph almost all of our projects with a talented trusted group of artists and stylists, as that’s the record of our professional work BUT it’s also important that clients live with good things in a beautiful way in their day-to-day lives without the perfect flowers or the drapery hanging perfectly still meaningful spaces with good vibes and good art a wonderful stack painting by @rongorchovtrust and a vintage table by angelo mangiarotti in the living room (and yes, wall-to-wall carpet!) a painting by michael boyd from @ericfirestonegallery , a vintage coffee table by pucci de rossi, and a lamp by @adamotlewski in the tv room a dining table by @bddw_etc and chairs by @bassamfellows from @suiteny with a mobile by xavier from @nararoesler and a painting by @andrewkuostudio from @marlborough_gallery in the dining room #ryanlawsonllc

having never met my client @gregorylofgren or his husband donny, and having never seen their house in person we went about transforming the space where they lived for twenty-five years the living room became the dining room the dining room became the living room over facetime, i found that their antique chesterfield sofa from the living room fit magically into a niche in the breakfast room giving them a banquette for casual meals and television pillows in @clarencehousetextiles by @joyfulcustomsewing my friend @9and19 crafted a beautiful inlaid oak table we paired with @furniture_marolles famous three-legged chairs my favorite walnut mirror also by @9and19 and a wonderful cardboard chicken sculpture by @stevejlouis we painted the ceiling neggin saffron - one of my colors for @ressource_americas and in the kitchen beyond is an incredible antique amsterdam school stained glass and wood pendant from @studio_eklektik - arguably my favorite thing in the house photographed by @taylorhallobrien story by @hardylon for @archdigest #ryanlawsonllc

one of the most fulfilling and fun projects i have ever worked on is out today on @archdigest - and it almost didn’t happen a few years back, @gregorylofgren contacted me about helping him and his husband donny decorate their houston bungalow - remotely though flattered, i initially declined because i wasn’t set up to work that way how could i decorate a house i had never seen in person, never checked the vibe, and never measured?!? but i got a good feeling and reconsidered, and am so glad i did working only via telephone, facetime, and fedex, we went about fully transforming their house packed with treasures into an edited cohesive home they love i finally met greg and donny and saw the house the day before @taylorhallobrien came to take these beautiful photos my friend @hardylon wrote a charming story for the team at @archdigest , whose support for my work means everything #ryanlawsonllc but make it #remote

the kitchen of our house in the desert was the biggest change we made to the house - relocating it into the former dining room and opening it up to create a larger space that better fits with the way we casually live and entertain we made a big island for lemon rolling 🍋 the custom colored range from @bluestarcooking - the best ranges - and now refrigerators - made in the USA - in a kind of petrol blue suggested by my longtime employee @devoncolligan green quartzite counters from @formationstone with cabinets and walls painted in @ressource_americas and @ressource_peintures paint brass hardware from @fort_standard wall shelving system from @seanbrobins himself at @studiovandenakker with dishes and a few design goodies - a steel bird sculpture by @anasse_nicole_et_michel and a blue stained glass sculpture by @annabelleauger from @edgaryall we added the skylights and the long window over the sink to supplement the lighting overhead by @wearedeltalight from @visualcomfort and the wall sconces by @alliedmaker in the back, a little sliver is showing of a great painting by @sthorpestudio from @dimin.nyc photographed by @shadedeggesphotography styled by @rowelosangeles printed in @archdigest with a story by @kylehoepner #ryanlawsonllc

i take a bath every single day, and this tub designed by the great italian architect ettore sottsass for @kaldewei fits me perfectly we found these wild green marble slabs - one of which was all jagged on its short end so we decided to polish the back side of the consecutive slab and stand them up on their ends and leave them broken - a casual reference to the mountains, if you will and a shaggy snake rug made by @beni_rugs swipe for a pic of the stone yard visit to @formationstone and a photo from my phone of the other wall in the room with a great pool drawing by @paolo.ventura from @weinsteinhammons photographed by @shadedeggesphotography styled by @rowelosangeles out now in the april issue of @archdigest with a story by @kylehoepner #ryanlawsonllc
