“I think beauty is so much more than one, universal ideaI. Everyone has a different relationship to beauty. We can’t expect someone else to feel the same. We can’t ask them to feel beautiful and we can’t tell them that they’re not allowed to feel ugly, that they should look like this or that... and yet we do and that feels weird, that’s what beauty has become. It feels like this wasn’t the way it used to be. It feels like beauty was layered, more about an experience. With friends, or on your own, at your favourite places. Was beauty maybe a feeling instead? That’s what I think about, when I think about beauty. That’s what I’m trying to understand: these moments in-between. The Mediator. Early cut available tonight til 11:59pm AEST on MIFFPLAY (link in bio). Disappeared and made a short about one of Melbourne’s most iconic figures, Mick Gatto. Project is still developing, but 6+ months in, we’re grateful MIFF have partnered up with VCA for a little release on MIFFPlay. In the whirlwind, feel like I haven’t stopped for a second to soak it all up but here we are. This project marks the end of my time at VCA. I don’t have the words for how grateful I am for every person I’ve passed through there with over the 3 years. Excited to continue doing crazy shit with you all in the future. So many thanks are in order. We have had 66 people contribute to the film so far and that number will keep growing. The amount of support and generosity in bringing this to life has been overwhelming. @stevebastoni brought Mick to life like no one else could. Such a privilege getting to work alongside him as a producing partner as well. He stars alongside the enormously talented @seankeen , @stevemouzakis and Carmelina Di Guglielmo who we were blessed to have involved in the world of The Mediator. @anthonylittlechild was a dream mentor and collaborator to have onboard. his belief in the project is unparalleled and I owe this man the world for the support he’s given.
