It has almost been a year since I started working as a full time news cameraman. It has been a privilege for me to cover and document some incredible and tragic events this past year.
It is interesting to reflect on the countless hours I have spent at deveststing and often horrific scenes with my co workers. I am yet to figure out why I am compelled to document these scenes on film, but yet here I am. Coming to terms with the harsh reality of life on a weekly if not daily basis has been troubling, but forces me to expand my world view and share amongst Australians the adversity our communities face and strive to overcome.
Here is a small collection of photographs I have made at crime scenes I have attended.
Photo slides:
1,2,3 - A fireman walks through a scene where an E-bike store was fire bombed in Brunswick. It was targeted to burn an upstairs gym Sam Abdulrahim had trained at. Slide 3 is when it got firebombed a week later to finish the job
4 - A mother and her baby walking away from a firebombed cash converters in Preston.
5 - A woman sitting at Frankston beach where a fisherman drowned overnight.
6 - The Adass Israel Synagogue firebombed in Ripponlea
7 - A stray bullet struck a local library near Altona overnight.
8 - Two journalists overlooking a scene where a man jumped off the roof at Southland Shopping Centre and lost his life.
