The exhibition traces an intergenerational lineage of artists working with software-based practices, foregrounding how code operates as both a time-based and spatial medium. The partnership pairs bitformsโ long-standing engagement with the histories and infrastructures of digital and time-based work with Rip Spaceโs process-driven approach to experimentation and ideas in motion.
๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ coincides with bitforms galleryโs 25th anniversary, reflecting a legacy of supporting artists who have defined generative and software-based practices. Pioneers like Daniel Canogar and Casey Reas, whose work helped establish code as an artistic medium are presented alongside artists such as Sarah Rothberg whose practice engages interactive systems and AI to explore the social and psychological dimensions of technology.Their influence extends into artists like Aurora Mititelu and Nat Decker, who treat software as both material and environment, developing installation-based and networked practices that expand how digital systems inhabit physical space.
