An evening of culture, cuisine, and cinema. A buffet of authentic northern Ghanaian dishes before the screening of Zili, a powerful film about women who journey south in search of hope and find themselves carrying more than just loads but resilient, pain and hope.

Special appreciation to all the mothers who take time to bring their infants/kids to cultural institutions. Art and culture is not a luxury but a basic human right and it’s never too early to start taking your kids to these spaces. Have a Good Friday and happy weekend ahead.

Thank you for everyone who has reached out both online and in person over the last month. First over one of our trains caught fire during a repair session and secondly the assault I went through. It has certainly been a hard period, thank God March is over finally. Now we look forward to a new month with new promises and a reminder of what our work/collective labour means to the world. Let’s keep building and sharing collectively. Thank you

Do 9 months flutter by as fast as 6? “The Writing’s on the Wall” closes today, and it feels like it only just opened. It is an exhibition I didn’t so much “curate” as “midwife”. But actually, did I give birth to it, or did it give birth to me? (Artists, mothers, lovers, anyone know what I’m talking about?) Thank you, @sccatamale team and friends, for giving yourselves to the voices and visions of these women, and the wombs/worlds within and around us. Thank you artists, for sharing some of your most intimate, embryonic and ancestral projects, and for playing all roles of artist-producer-curator-participant. Cheers RBI @robinbethinc “curating companions,” for jumping into these unknown and in-between positions, and expanding the curatorial/artistic possibilities. And gratitude to all the “mother mushrooms” out there of all genders, shapes, sizes and species. - - - Finally, a moment of silence and remembrance for the late mother of our dear Priscilla Kennedy @priscilla_kennedy_ , whose physical body passed on during the course of our show, but whose spirit lives on in the lines and thoughts Priscilla stitched into her tapestries…and in all those who knew and loved her. Mary Abena Ampofowaa Kennedy 🖤 forever visible in her daughter’s “Invisible Cities” 🪽
