Cette participation revêt une signification particulière pour nous, alors que nous continuons d’honorer la vision, la rigueur et l’engagement durable de Koyo envers le dialogue artistique et la pensée critique. En 2026, RAW Material Company adoptera un nouveau rythme : Face à l’accélération constante des rythmes de production culturelle, nous faisons le choix conscient de ralentir — non pas pour faire moins, mais pour faire avec plus de justesse, de soin et de durabilité. Concrètement, l’espace de RAW sera désormais ouvert trois jours par semaine, et notre programmation publique sera volontairement allégée. Ce temps dégagé nous permettra de nous concentrer pleinement sur nos publications, de renforcer nos processus éditoriaux, et d’engager une réflexion en profondeur sur les formes et les temporalités de notre programmation. Ce moment de ralentissement est aussi un temps de préparation. Final week of Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes 🛶 Ican Ramageli - The secret of the last day “The secret of the last day” is an installation in which raw materials, moving images, and rhythm come together in a space that feels both fragile and charged. Wood, rope, and ash form a landscape of remnants and traces. A projected film moves through this material constellation, portraying a local community while a voice-over recites a poem. The installation departs from the idea that there is no beginning or end, only a continuous cycle of transformation. ♾️ In the work of nomadic artist Ican Ramageli, art and everyday reality are inseparably intertwined through video, photography, performance, painting, and music. Through a poetic and political awareness, he explores how collective experiences can open new ways of thinking and acting. As a member of Laboratoire Agit-Art, he emphasizes the importance of creating together and a collective “we” as a driver for change. // Laatste week van Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes 🛶 The Secret of the Last Day is een installatie waarin ruwe materialen, bewegend beeld en ritme samenkomen in een ruimte die tegelijk fragiel en geladen aanvoelt. Hout, touw en as vormen een landschap van resten en sporen. Een geprojecteerde film beweegt doorheen deze materiële constellatie en toont een lokale gemeenschap, terwijl een poëtische voice-over het ‘geheim van de laatste dag’ oproept. De installatie vertrekt vanuit het idee dat er geen begin of einde bestaat, maar enkel een voortdurende cyclus van transformatie. ♾️ In het werk van nomadisch kunstenaar Ican Ramageli zijn kunst en dagelijkse realiteit onlosmakelijk verbonden in video, fotografie, performance, schilderkunst en muziek. Vanuit een poëtisch en politiek bewustzijn onderzoekt hij hoe collectieve ervaringen nieuwe vormen van denken en handelen kunnen openen. Final week of Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes 👁️ Eva Diallo – Untitled, from Diallo Diery Eva Diallo’s work spans photography, video, and installations, through which she constructs visual narratives from fragments, anecdotes, and her family. She observes and collects, creating a visual archive that goes beyond documentation, inviting imagination and a deeper, layered experience. 📷 In her long-term project Diallo Diary, she continues the documentation of the Fulani: a nomadic people from West Africa, known for their rich culture, traditions, and strong connection to livestock and landscape. Eva approaches her family from multiple perspectives, creating images of and for them, resulting in an intimate and personal approach. In ‘Untitled, from Diallo Diary’, Fouta is central: a region in northern Senegal that includes the dry area of Diéry. The depicted trees hold both practical and medicinal value and are part of a family history. // Laatste week van Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes 👁️ Eva Diallo - Untitled, from Diallo Diery Het werk van Eva Diallo bestaat uit fotografie, video en installaties, waarbij ze visuele verhalen opbouwt uit fragmenten, anekdotes en familieverhalen. Ze observeert en verzamelt, en vormt een visueel archief dat verder gaat dan registratie: het nodigt uit tot verbeelding en een diepere, gelaagde ervaring. 📷 In haar langlopende project Diallo Diary zet ze de documentatie van de Fulani voort: een nomadisch volk uit West-Afrika, dat bekend staat om hun rijke cultuur, tradities en sterke verbondenheid met vee en landschap. Eva kijkt naar haar familie vanuit verschillende perspectieven en maakt beelden van en voor hen, waardoor een intieme en persoonlijke benadering ontstaat. In ‘Untitled, from Diallo Diary’ staat Fouta centraal, een regio in Senegal, met het droge gebied Diéry. De afgebeelde bomen hebben zowel praktische als medicinale waarde en maken deel uit van een familiegeschiedenis. Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes 🍠 Selly Raby Kane - Ubbi, Tisóoli In the crowded, hot-pink space of Senegalese multidisciplinary artist Selly Raby Kane, familiar kitchen objects appear, but their forms render them unusable. Cooking pots have chicken legs and teeth, still lifes become surrealist compositions. The initial sense of estrangement quickly gives way to wonder. 🥫Here, the Senegalese kitchen becomes a site of physical, political, and spiritual tension: it nourishes and excludes, it is strict and unpredictable. Objects refuse to obey; they transform, take on impossible shapes, and seem to whisper hidden truths. The everyday thus becomes unstable and poetic. De eerste vervreemding maakt snel plaats voor verwondering. 🥫De Senegalese keuken wordt hier een plek van fysieke, politieke en spirituele spanning: ze voedt en sluit uit, is streng en onvoorspelbaar. Objecten weigeren nog te gehoorzame: ze transformeren, nemen onmogelijke vormen aan en lijken verborgen waarheden te fluisteren. Het alledaagse wordt zo instabiel en poëtisch. Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes❓Babacar Traoré ‘Doli’ - The Interrogation Room on the truths of the past: Where did our present go? Digital collages are displayed on the wall alongside fragments of roof tiles from the Medina neighborhood, one of Dakar’s characteristic working-class districts and the birthplace of Senegalese photomedia artist Babacar Traoré “Doli.” Written in chalk on the walls are questions about the past and about the neighborhood, which is at risk of disappearing. 👁️ Up close, the many labor-intensive question marks in the collages stand out, placed like masks over the faces. As a viewer, the people depicted remain impossible to fully understand. Rather than offering clear answers, the images create space for doubt and personal interpretation. Aan de muur hangen digitale collages, gecombineerd met stukken dakpan uit Medina, een van de kenmerkende volkswijken van Dakar en de geboorteplaats van de Senegalese fotomediakunstenaar Babacar Traoré ‘Doli’. Op de wanden staan met krijt handgeschreven vragen over het verleden en over de buurt, die dreigt te verdwijnen. 👁️ Van dichtbij vallen vooral de vele, arbeidsintensieve vraagtekens in de collages op, die als maskers over de gezichten zijn geplaatst. Daardoor blijven de afgebeelde personen voor de bezoeker ondoorgrondelijk. In plaats van duidelijke antwoorden te geven, openen de beelden juist ruimte voor twijfel en eigen interpretatie. Retour en images sur notre ciné-club Politique culturelle du 23 avril 2026 à RAW Material Company. Cette séance s’inscrivait dans notre exploration du soixantième anniversaire du Festival Mondial des Arts Nègres, un moment clé de l’histoire culturelle du Sénégal et du continent. Nous avons projeté Le Sénégal et le Festival Mondial des Arts Nègres de Paulin Soumanou Vieyra, un film qui retrace l’effervescence de Dakar en 1966 et met en lumière la richesse et la diversité des expressions artistiques africaines. La projection a été suivie d’une conversation avec Pr. Ibrahima Wane et Aboubacar Demba Cissokho, ouvrant un espace de réflexion autour des héritages culturels, des récits historiques et de la place du Sénégal dans les dynamiques culturelles mondiales. Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes 📖 Hamedine Kane – In Praise of the Sensitive In several rooms at Marres, you will find the work of Senegalese-Mauritanian multidisciplinary artist Hamedine Kane. He engages deeply with African, Afro-American, and Afro-diasporic literature, as well as its historical influence on political, social, and ecological activism. His work functions like a kind of library, mapping the lives, works, and social connections of key revolutionary figures in modern African history. In doing so, Kane reinterprets the blackboard (a symbol of official knowledge), presents a selection from his book collection, a new series of photos and videos, and unfolds a patchwork of objects collected during his travels. 🔹 Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes is curated by Filly Gueye and Haja Fanta of RAW Material Company.  In een aantal ruimtes binnen Marres vind je het werk van de Senegalees-Mauritaanse multidisciplinaire kunstenaar Hamedine Kane. Hij verdiept zich in Afrikaanse, Afro-Amerikaanse en Afro-diasporische literatuur en in de historische invloed daarvan op politiek, sociaal en ecologisch activisme. Zijn werk is als een soort bibliotheek die de levens, werken en sociale verbanden in kaart brengt van de belangrijkste revolutionaire figuren uit de moderne Afrikaanse geschiedenis. Zo geeft Kane een nieuwe betekenis aan het schoolbord (het symbool van officiële kennis), toont een selectie van zijn boekencollectie, een nieuwe serie foto’s en video’s en ontvouwt een patchwork van objecten verzameld tijdens zijn reizen. 🔹 De tentoonstelling ‘Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes’ is samengesteld door Filly Gueye @fillydabo en Haja Fanta @haja.fanta_ van RAW Material Company @raw.gram2011 .
