Dorothy Amenuke’s large-scale works explore humanity’s interaction and intervention with the world, examining order and disorder, harmony and dissonance, and probing how bias, prejudice, control and ignorance shape our interpretations and reactions.
The soft sculpture installations and constellations; unique in Ghana—are made with strings, fibres, textiles, discarded clothing and accessories using stitching, collaging and quilting techniques. Through tactility and sensory experiences, the artist invites viewers to connect and reflect with her.

We had the pleasure of hosting a beautiful “By the Fireside”, led by Small Hype(@smallhype ) as part of a book donation and reading session for our Friday Reading Club with children from La Bawaleshie. Held on the lawn in a warm storytelling circle, the session brought the Adepa Books(@adepachildrensbooks ) collection to life while sparking conversations about caring for the environment.
Through the stories, the children explored themes of recycling, protecting water bodies, and keeping their communities clean, learning that even small actions can make a difference. The session was followed by a hands-on workshop where they created pencil holders from toilet roll inserts—an engaging way to practice recycling and creative reuse.
This experience was made possible through the generous support of the J. Kirby Simon Foreign Service Trust, presented to Nubuke Foundation by Nish McCree (@nish_mccree ).
Moments like these highlight the power of reading to nurture curiosity and inspire responsibility. Special thanks to @nish_mccree , @smallhype , @smartlinekids , @twelliumghana and the Nubuke Foundation team for making it possible.

Still unfolding — Dreaming is a Map.
This exhibition continues to grow through the voices and reflections of those who move through it. In this video, audiences share their thoughts, impressions, and questions, while Dorothy Akpene Amenuke(@dotamenuke ) offers deeper insight into the meanings and processes behind the works.
Her large-scale soft sculptures created from strings, fibres, textiles, and repurposed clothing—explore how we relate to the world around us. Moving between order and disorder, harmony and tension, the work invites us to reflect on how our perspectives are shaped by bias, control, and lived experience. The installations remain immersive, tactile, and deeply engaging.
Grateful for the conversations, the curiosity, and the openness this exhibition continues to hold. It’s still ongoing — come experience it for yourself.
Dreaming Is a Map (curated by N'Goné Fall) continues at Nubuke Foundation until 30 May 2026.

I’m happy to share this brilliant yet generous reflection on “Rhizomatic Portals: Ways of Knowing”, the Collateral Exhibition which I curated for the 18th International Triennial of Textile and the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, Poland.
The exhibition features an intergenerational group of amazing artists:
Amina Agueznay @aminaagueznay
Peju Layiwola @pejulayiwola
Aissa Dione @aissadionetissus
Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien @m.e.s.s.o.u.m.a
Ngozi Ajah Schommers @ngozischommers
Adeola Olagunju @_deolagold_
Sondos Shuaib @sond.ology
Weavers from Ghana’s Upper West region/Nubuke Foundation @nubuke_foundation
And an homage to the late Malagasy artist ‘Madame Zo’ (Zoarinivo Razakaratrimo) cc Hobisoa Raininoro @soamiahy
In addition to everything stated in the review, I want to mention that also layered in some of the works are other kinds of homage and acknowledgement of individuals and heritage within the wider ecosystem of this presentation (i.e. the presence of Koyo Kouoh in Adeola Olagunju’s work and the artisanal heritage in Shuaib or Agueznay’s work). These layers further emphasise the interconnectedness of the personal and collective history and relations in the exhibition.
For me, this exhibition is a beautiful addition to an already inspiring experience of co-curating the main exhibition. I’m grateful to the museum leadership and exhibition team for shifting the focus of the collateral show to artists outside Poland.
And, thank you @wera.morawiev for visiting and writing so thoughtfully about what you saw and experienced. I’m glad the exhibition and thematic ideas can reach a wider audience through your words and through @mostmagazine__ .
I hope you all get to read and share the article. (See link in my bio)

Dorothy Akpene Amenuke(@dotamenuke ) , the distinguished Ghanaian artist behind our ongoing exhibition, Dreaming Is a Map (curated by N'Gone Fall @panafricandkr ))—a compelling exploration of the relationships between space, identity, and human interaction. Based in Kumasi, Dorothy is both an internationally exhibiting artist and a lecturer in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), within the College of Art and Built Environment.
We sat down with the artist to discuss Dreaming is a Map, exploring humanity’s interaction with the world—where order meets disorder, and harmony confronts dissonance. Through large-scale soft sculptures and immersive installations made from fibres, textiles, and discarded materials, Dorothy constructs dreamlike constellations that question control, identity, and the boundaries we create. Her work moves between tension and tenderness, offering both critique and quiet optimism especially for the marginalized and unseen.
Rooted in tactility and sensory experience, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect, connect, and reimagine space and belonging.
The Exhibition runs until 30 May 2026
