Did you know that Dia has nine permanent sites across the United States and Germany? That’s in addition to our three changing exhibition spaces in New York State: Dia Beacon in the Hudson Valley, Dia Bridgehampton on Long Island, and Dia Chelsea in New York City. Dia focuses on commissioning single artist projects, organizing exhibitions, realizing site-specific installations, and collecting in-depth the work of a focused group of artists of the 1960s and 1970s. You can learn more about Dia’s sites and locations, as well as how to visit, through our “About Dia Art Foundation” link in bio. David Lamelas is a foundational figure in conceptual art whose work explores time, information, perception, and the systems through which reality is mediated. Working across installation, sculpture, film, and performance since the 1960s, the Argentine artist has developed a practice shaped by movement, using space and communication as tools for examining how meaning is constructed. Curated by Humberto Moro (@hmbrtmoro ), ‘David Lamelas: The Machine’ at Dia Chelsea (@diaartfoundation ) surveys Lamelas’s practice from 1965 to 2026 through installations, sculptures, films, and newly commissioned works. The exhibition highlights the artist’s long-standing interest in opposing forces, systems of information, and the viewer’s perception of time and space. In parallel, Dia’s collaboration with Frieze New York (@friezeofficial ) at The Shed presents moving image works from Lamelas’s ongoing ‘Time as Activity’ series alongside ‘To Pour Milk into a Glass’ (1972), extending the exhibition into the context of the fair and bringing together key works from across his film practice. View the works at Frieze New York through Sunday and experience the full exhibition, ‘David Lamelas: The Machine’ at Dia Chelsea through January 2027.

On view at Dia Beacon, “Kishio Suga” brings together a group of the artist’s sculptures from the 1960s to the ’90s. Since the late 1960s, Kishio Suga’s practice has been motivated by a philosophical inquiry: can art expand our perception of things (in Japanese “mono”) beyond preconceived notions imposed by use and language? In Dia Beacon’s galleries, Suga wittingly collapses both work and space into one mysterious, prismatic situation. Experience the exhibition Friday through Monday, 10 am to 5 pm. Plan your visit at diaart.org/visit. Photos: Mollie McKinley (@mollie_mckinley ), Don Stahl (@donstahl ) #DiaArtFoundation #DiaBeacon #KishioSuga

Now open: “Lee Ufan” at Dia Beacon. As Dia presents a major exhibition of Lee Ufan’s work in Venice this month, a concurrent presentation is now on view at Dia Beacon. Together, the two exhibitions mark the artist’s 90th birthday and reflect the breadth of his practice across decades, disciplines, and geographies. On view in Beacon are eight paintings from the 1970s through the early ’90s, which recently entered Dia’s collection, alongside three sculptures associated with the Mono-ha movement. Visit Dia Beacon and experience these works in person, Friday through Monday, 10 am to 5 pm. Photos: Bill Jacobson (@bill_jacobson ) #DiaArtFoundation #DiaBeacon #LeeUfan

The artist On Kawara was deeply concerned with the ways humans experience and record time. Kawara began his Today Series of paintings on January 4, 1966, and continued to work on them until his death in mid-2014. Adhering to a rigorous set of rules that he established, Kawara required that each painting be completed on the date depicted on its surface and in the language and grammar of the country in which it was completed. “On Kawara” is on long-term view at Dia Beacon. Experience the paintings in person, Friday through Monday, from 10 am–5 pm. Plan your visit today at diaart.org/visit. “You have to bring your whole mind to bear on painting; to carry on, to go forward. Painting is not making paintings; it is a development of awareness. And with this awareness, your work changes, but very slowly.”— Agnes Martin On view now at Dia Beacon, “Agnes Martin: Painting is not making paintings” draws primarily from Dia’s extensive collection of Martin’s canvases to focus on the breadth of the artist’s output during the 1950s and ’60s. Complemented by important works from the latter decades of her practice, as well as significant loans, this show returns Martin's work to Dia Beacon's galleries for the first time in nearly a decade. Experience Martin’s singular contributions to Minimalism Friday through Monday, 10 am to 5 pm. Plan your visit at diaart.org/visit. Robert Irwin envisioned his design for Dia Beacon as a “sequence of experiences,” which includes the surrounding gardens. Taking Beacon’s local horticulture, seasonal light conditions, and the former Nabisco factory’s architecture into consideration, Irwin’s design for the landscape surrounding the museum incorporates indigenous plants that change throughout the year. Take advantage of the spring sunshine and explore Irwin’s gardens in bloom at Dia Beacon, open Friday–Monday, 10 am–5 pm. Book tickets now at diaart.org/tickets, or at our link in bio. As stewards of Robert Smithson’s “Spiral Jetty” (1970), Dia has recorded changes to the work over time through annual photographic documentation since 2012. Water levels in the Great Salt Lake have changed throughout the years, both submerging and exposing the work, but the sculpture has remained visible since 2002. As of 2026, water levels are once again close to breaking the historic low. The Great Salt Lake, which previously covered the work, is now almost a mile from “Spiral Jetty.” Learn more and watch the full-length film at our link in bio.
