⠀ 제1회 <사–이 페스티벌: 끼어드는 틈>은 세 가지 층위의 예술적 교류를 제안한다. 9일에 걸친 기간 동안 25명의 국제 예술가들은 서로의 경계에 틈을 내고 중첩되며, 자신의 예술을 재정립한다. 7인의 예술가는 페스티벌이 전개되는 방식, 혹은 공연의 흐름을 무대화하는 역할을 맡는다. 여기서 무대는 단순히 부수적인 배경이 아닌, 전시라는 골조 위에 세워지는 페스티벌의 환경을 일컫는다. 이러한 조건 속에서, 사운드·음악·퍼포먼스 분야의 예술가 18인이 초대되어 나흘간의 밤 동안 이 무대를 활성화한다. 이들은 소리의 물성이나 퍼포먼스의 몸짓을 통해 어떻게 공간과 교섭하고 개입할 것인가를 기준으로 선정되었다. 공연이 열리는 주말과 주말 사이, 축제 공간은 참여 예술가들의 워크숍을 위한 장이 된다. 이 워크숍들은 예술적 실천과 창작에 관한 대화를 생성하는 틈으로서 작동한다. For the inaugural edition of the festival <SA–I: Interventions> three modes of artistic exchange overlap and redefine each other over the course of nine days with participations from twenty-five international artists. Seven artists were given roles to explore the staging of a festival or concert scenario, importantly: not as a side component, but the very construction of the environment as an exhibition framework. Within this condition, eighteen artists working in sound, music, and performance were invited to activate this staging over the four evenings. These artists were curated based on the way space is negotiated in the work they produce, whether in sonic characteristics or performative gestures. 41st batch of oolong.playlist During a visit to Amsterdam and The Hague at the end of February, we met Qihang. Both A and B sides of her field recording–based cassette work 'trace, trace' are part of this selection. During the trip, we also attended default den haag for the first time, where Allan Gilbert Balon performed. A track 'Ogadia' from his recent album is included here. A live recording of Luciano Maggiore’s performance at Experimentik can also be heard in this batch. The recording appears on his cassette Tordo + Uah + Cick, released by Party Perfect. The B-side from his new album Mimosa Pudica is included as well. Also in the playlist is 'Pedigree IV' by Suk Hong, a Korean artist working with field recordings whom we first connected with via email earlier this year. The playlist additionally includes live recordings of performances by Júlia Koffler and Max Eilbacher from the opening of last year’s <Rainbow Loop: Toward a Spectral Method> in Daejeon. 'no karaoke' by Olaf Hochherz, from the compilation Music Will Ruin Everything, is also part of this batch. Lastly, this edition contains two reggae tunes. The first is 'Moonlight Gaze' by I and I Djangdan, blending dub with traditional Korean instruments and singing. The other is 'Luciano - Give Praise', recently heard playing on the street in Berlin as a man danced to it, shared here with hopes for an early summer. As always, there is no particular connection between the tracks within each batch of this playlist. Ute played the elements like she was singing. Liz blurred the line between instrument and non-instrument — and between voice and breath. No one played careless rhythms anymore. Heidi and Skye carefully explored the sounds in their hands. Vincent chose his mallets by instinct and drew delicate tones from the cymbal.
