💎 Thrilled about this ///// thank you @fridmangallery thank you @kitteakat Kathleen Maignan for your generous support and care 💎 We are honored to announce that the 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐭 ( @whitneymuseum ) has acquired a work by 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐬 ( @nloois ) for its permanent collection. The acquisition was made possible with generous support of Kathleen Maignan ( @kitteakat ). Nate Lewis earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University, and practiced critical-care nursing for nine years. Lewis’ signature paper-carving techniques explore connections among the visual languages of dance movement, anatomy, medical diagnostics and weather-pattern data. Meet artist Nate Lewis (@nloois ), presenting his work this week at Independent with @vielmetter Los Angeles Nate Lewis’s intricate drawings treat the surface of the paper as a sculptural material, pulling back individual layers to create a dimensionality that recalls topographic maps or animal hides. Figures rendered in graphite and ink are interspersed with frottage, embossing, and other printing techniques in dynamic visual interpretations of music and capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian spiritual martial-arts practice which doubles as a defense and a dance. Lewis’s new works introduce imagery of butterflies, their flight patterns and delicate wing structure acting as a framework to portray figures in motion and to experiment with surface treatments, texture, and pattern. #IndependentNewYork #NateLewis #Vielmetter #HumansofIndependent

Supporting 5 art nonprofits @artolution @artnoirco @silverartprojects @artsconnection . The tournament will start at 3pm because of a rain delay. Pull up to Grand Street Basketball Courts for a good time . Last year was a fun time. My team with @a__musa_ @digitaldannybaez and @sansbam took the 🏆 home.
