Watch the new music video for Setting's āWhat Kind of Fish is a Turtleā from their new self-titled album (out now on Thrill Jockey). Directed by the award winning surfing filmmaker/photographer Morgan Maassen, the track and music video are rich and fluid, crashing together like waves in slow motion.
Setting said āMorgan Maassenās immersive, buoyant video for āWhat Kind of Fish is a Turtleā seems so intertwined with the musicās pitch, yaw, and roll that youād be forgiven for thinking that the two were created as a piece to complement and augment one another, but this specific collaboration came to fruition well after the music was recorded. The inky half-light and glassy shimmer of his footage seems to both birth the music and bloom from within it, a breathtaking effect that leaves the viewer/listener wondering which way is up. We are so, so chuffed to share this slice of kismet audio-visual symbiosis with yāall."

ššššš¢š§š - šŗšššššš is OUT today on Thrill Jockey Records! We began our journey with this material in January of 2025 at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, NC with the ever-imaginative and insightful Adam McDaniel at the mixing desk. Further shaping took place in the following few months, and our self-titled statement (appropriately named as it only features the three members of the trio) was complete. This project continues our collaboration with Josh Bonati (mastering) and Timothy Breen (artwork) from our studio debut. We are thrilled to have this released on Thrill Jockey! Available today everywhere!
See you out thereā¦

Mind Over Mirrors in Berlin
August 22, 2026 @ @kindlberlin
Kiezsalon 26 by @digitalinberlin
Itās been nearly 20 years since Iāve been to Berlin. Well before I even started Mind Over Mirrors - so we can officially call this a premier of sorts. Very happy to have this special invitation from @natureboyrosen and @digitalinberlin .
On this day in 2018, āBellowing Sunā was released into the wilds with @paradiseofbachelors and performed over the course of multiple nights at @mcachicago
The piece that nearly broke me. Maybe it did. Glad to have come through the other side for the better.
What a glorious crew. @saturn_bat@beanatitagain Jon Mueller @timothy.a.breen Keith Parham, Eliot Irwin @davidravel

We are exactly 1 month out from our forthcoming release with @thrilljockey !
"I first started playing piano in the late 80s, taking classical lessons from an old Italian-American woman... think very dimly lit basement piano studio with this eccentric woman wearing a schmatta, recently dyed (still wet) black hair and lots of leftovers being eaten out of tin take out containers while I was playing 'Arabesque.'" ā Jaime Fennelly
Under the moniker Mind Over Mirrors, Fennelly, makes music that pushes the known to the lip of the unknown. He scrambles the familiar and tweaks the comfortable, not through aggression, but a throbbing estrangement.
In our 11+3 questionnaire, Jaime opens up about his creative process and latest album 'Particles, Peds & Pores.' To read the full interview, head to the link in our bio š
