Meet us at the mountain. 🏔️
Mountains of Sound returns to the Market neighborhood this year as a 120-frame timber pavilion inspired by Wizard Island, the volcanic cinder cone at the center of Crater Lake. It’s a place to navigate by, return to, and lose yourself in. Radiating frames sweep low and climb high providing a shaded meeting point and a dance floor with sound filling every corner of the structure from every direction.
Brought to life in partnership with Creative Neighborhoods (@creativeneighborhoods ), the nonprofit helping shape Pickathon’s immersive built environments, Mountains of Sound is part of a larger vision where architecture, art, and music come together in unexpected ways.
Designed by West of West (@west_of_west ), an award-winning LA studio named one of the Top 50 Design Firms in North America, in collaboration with Holmes Engineers (@holmes.us ), a global structural engineering firm known for bold, sustainability-driven design.

Students from construction classes at Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical Center took a design/build field trip out to Pendarvis Farm to test their Wild Horse furniture concepts. Scott and Sherry Pendarvis chatted with the students about the effects of the massive buildup of houses around the farm on the wildlife in the area and the history of the farm. After a tour of the site we unloaded the prototypes and put them to test on the farm terrain. These are first year construction students and they are killing it. Come check out their work at this year’s Pickathon.

We had an amazing design dialogue at Bora Architecture for the Farmhouse entry neighborhood. The elements from this neighborhood will go downstream to the new Dream Big City skate park. Folks from Bora, Dream Big City, Pickathon and Creative Neighborhoods got together to brainstorm ideas using miniature skate park elements. Big thanks to everyone involved.
