It’s a strange, dark world—and it feels like it’s only getting stranger. I’ve been finding steady ground in sharing beautiful, strange records, and for nearly five years on Shady Pines Radio. Much love to the Shady Pines community for the space and opportunity.
This has always been about more than music. It’s been about connection. If you see me post an album you love, reach out. If you dug a show or have a suggestion, hit me up. DM or email anytime—always open to talking music.
I’ll also be out DJing at a few festivals and around this summer, always looking for new spaces to share, experience, and dig into music with people. Throw away your algorithms, support local music, and take part in culture.
See you out there,
DJ Lofi
We've seen countless magical moments on the Woods Stage. This weekend, we added another to the story 💕
Thank you for the amazing photos @mghmode

BOB DYLAN MONTH CONTINUES.
This week it’s 1978–1980. Bob and friends staring down the barrel of the ‘80s. Divorce, cocaine paranoia, spiritual searching, FM radio — nobody had it figured out. Some made the transition gracefully. Most didn’t.
It’s a fascinating, messy, very human few years.

Dylan & his peers // 1978–1980
5–6PM @ Shady Pines Radio
Tune in or stay in 1978. Your call.
This week on The Search for Skip James:
We’re stepping into the early-’60s Greenwich Village folk scene — the Gaslight Café, Gerde’s Folk City, Café Wha? — tracing the world around a young Bob Dylan before the legend fully formed.
Alongside Dylan, expect a cast of characters like Dave Van Ronk, Karen Dalton, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Odetta, and maybe even a glimpse of Moondog on a street corner.
In honor of Dylan’s 85th birthday, May is officially Dylan Month on the show.
Pour yourself a glass of Beaujolais and join me this Sunday from 5–6pm on Shady Pines Radio.
Each week this month, we’ll wander deeper into the world of Bob Dylan and the people orbiting around him.

I’m grateful to be invited back to DJ Pickathon again this year. A shout out to all the DJs over the years who have curated the perfect weekend vibes, and a warm welcome to the DJs joining for the first time this year.
This year marks my 18th year experiencing Pickathon. Pendarvis Farm has had a huge presence in my life, friendships, and love for music, including getting hitched to @kdrummstick last summer with all of our friends and family. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to do what I love most, playing records and sharing music in my favorite place in the world.
See you at the farm ❤️🎶 @pickathon

Sunday, 5–6PM — Shady Pines Radio.
The Search for Skip James with DJ Lofi.
Fred Cole—one of the greatest rock and roll songwriters.
Dead Moon, The Rats, Pierced Arrows, plus some Wipers.
No polish. Just songs that mean it.
Drop in.
This Sunday, come sit with me in the dark for an hour of murder ballads.
There’s something deeply American about these songs, passed down from the late 1800s into the 20th century, carried through front porches, field recordings, and half-forgotten voices.
Expect violence, betrayal, consequence—set to melody.
We’ll move from old traditionals like “Omie Wise,” through Doc Watson, and out into the wider edges with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, alongside voices like Connie Converse and Karen Dalton who carry that same weight in a different way.
These songs aren’t just stories, they’re part of the roots. And they’re still echoing.

It’s been a year since Michael Hurley passed, and it still feels a little surreal to say that. His music has been such a steady, guiding presence for me, shaping not just what I listen to, but how I think about making music.
This Sunday, 5-6 pm, I’ll be hosting my annual Michael Hurley remembrance show on The Search for Skip James with DJ Lofi on Shady Pines Radio.
I’ve been pulling together a set that feels really special—some old live recordings I came across years ago (90s/early 2000s era), a couple tracks from Eric Isaacson’s beautiful memorial show last year, and plenty from my own vinyl collection.
Sending a lot of love to everyone still keeping his songs, spirit, and art alive. #MichaelHurley #SnockLives
