Breaking my “no grid” rule for @thisispattismith. Last night’s tribute at @carnegiehall was every positive superlative you can think of. Peformances and readings by @michaelstipe, @springsteen, @greengloves777, @courtneybarnett, @maggierogers, @jesse_malin, @kimletgordon + Bill Nace, @bankspaulbanks, @glenhansard, @susannahoffsofficial, @ko, Scarlett Johansson, @seanpenn, @jim.jarmusch, @kronos_quartet, @amosshart, Angel Olsen, @benharper, @michaelshannon, @sharonvanhalen, @johnnydepp, @flea333, @lenny_kaye, @sextonplace, and more. During the finale I turned to my friend @jessica_schneider (thank you for the ticket!) and said “this is our SNL50.” (It is in fact the 50th anniversary of Patti’s debut album, Horses.) An iconic New York night.

I wasn’t planning to post “on the grid” this year (I’ve fully bought into Stories, once hating but now loving the ephemeral aspect of it) but someone suggested this family pic from my weekend in MD deserves it. Go Krucoffs! (Bonus pics with @tullstoy and the @albeeda3rd fan club.)

While Richard & Linda Thompson’s iconic “I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight” is not technically a holiday song, @laurastevenson made it one when I requested a personalized video of it through her Patreon. I’m a big fan of her voice and original songwriting but I love this cover. Here’s a clip of it. The opening lines “I’m so tired of working every day, now the weekend’s come I’m gonna throw my troubles away” also serve as a salutary Shabbat Shalom. Light some lights tonight, mfers!
