As ever late to share - but was very happy to have contributed efforts to Fitzpatrick Gallery’s “Terre Intrecciate” co-curated by Jacopo Mazzetti at Palazzo Carrozzini, Puglia. @fitzpatrick_gallery <3 July 12 — August 30, 2025 With Alexandru Chira, Guido Biasi, Kerstin Brätsch, Carlo Bugatti, Haris Epaminonda, Matthew Lutz-Kinoy, Arthur Marie Jacopo Mazzetti, Odilon Redon, Carol Rama Sophie Reinhold, Beatrice Wood & Unknown Artists …..Structured in three distinct yet interwoven layers, the exhibition unfolds like a palimpsest; each stratum existing on its own plane, stacked tier by tier. Terre Intrecciate traces a universal longing to grasp the sacred, offering a quiet meditation on transcendence, where the earthly and the ethereal meet in silent dialogue. With its layered history—as a noble residence and later a tobacco factory—Palazzo Carrozzini becomes a resonant vessel for the exhibit. Its long obscured and rediscovered frescoes, echoing the exhibition’s themes of intertwined lives and overlapping histories…. ….Religious iconography, has historically served dual functions: to inspire awe and to assert control. This stratum also acknowledges the entangled legacies of empire and extraction, wherein sacred objects were displaced. Severed from their cultural contexts, many artifacts were stripped of the cosmologies they once sustained. And yet, alongside these histories of domination, lies something deeply hopeful: a shared, persistent human impulse to seek transcendence….

Last month, I had the pleasure of contributing to ‘Dépasser’ with works by Beatrice Wood and Irène Zurkinden, presented by Fitzpatrick Gallery. Alongside the luxury of spending three weeks at Maison Ozenfant — a space normally closed to the public — I had the privilege of researching and writing about two truly magnetic female artists. Both spent formative periods of their lives in Paris, and I couldn’t help but identify with their energies. Eclectic and forever in flux, they moved through the world in a strident spirit that still resonates today. Since both artists were largely overlooked during their lifetimes, the process became a patchwork — piecing together archives of personal letters, photographs, and fragmented records. A quiet kind of detective work, and one I felt lucky to undertake. Irène has my respect; Beato has my heart. If you are interested in reading their biographies — dm for a link. Flesh eating fish eating a fish dinner on a Friday night. Mama fish said baby should stop playing with her peas, baby fish said she preferred caviar to this chip shop nourriture. Baby fish dreams big, an important thing to do if one is ever to leave the small pond which she feels she has already outgrown. Not as particularly fleshy as his fishy wife, Papa fish sits reading the days paper. Today's headline reads ICARUS FLEW, PRIOR TO FALL. While he has never flown, Papa fish dabbles writing poetry, which later theorists claim inspired the likes experimental word play of Hugo Ball. Sadly Papa fish will never shake fins with the dadaists, as although they would have gotten along immensely, he would soon to be the victim of a horrific accident involving a hook, a frying pan, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon. Suddenly inspired ‘BLOOr blooor,’ he shook the table as he bellowed, bubbles of air rising from his gills in with his delivery. Baby and Mama fish pay little attention as these outburst were not few nor far between. He continues. But before he does, I encourage the reader to use their own sensibilities. Papa fish meant for a slight melancholy and fury behind his verse, so please indulge him in this. The true potency is best admired out loud. So please, shake the table as you speak, preferably underwater for intended sound quality. Bloop, Blop blop blop blop de blop blop boooooaaaabbbb ob Ob ob ob oooab boaaaa Bo bo bop. ‘Freedom is not important, instead, how you achieved such a freedom. You see bébé…’ he informs his caviar child ‘Terrorism is the weapon of the poor against the overarching political violence of the everyday’. Red is the colour of chilli lime roasted cockroaches, blood oranges discarded last night in the street. It is the colour of passion and dance dressed, the colour that blood drips from your finger pierced by a needle. It is the colour of love, passion and fire. A warning of danger, heat, anger and dread, in the form of vip carpets laid out for your feet to carefully tread.
