Production Design / Creative Lead for Red Bull Symphonic starring @mrmoney + @_glennalexanderii with The Symphonic Orchestra Title: Communion as Monument Medium: Architectural, visual, sonic installation - performance, joy, spectacle This piece explores Black celebration as contemporary art. Inspired by the communal living systems of Fela Kuti and Afrika 70, the work reframes the stage as a cultural commons - a site for memory, exchange, and collective witnessing. The storefronts honor the mothers behind two cultural architects: Fela Kuti and Christopher Wallace (Biggie Smalls). Both educators and activists, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti (1900-1978) and Voletta Wallace (1953-2025) function as anchors, altars, and lineage markers. The adiré stage shroud is alive with symbols and messages of well-wishes. It floats behind the orchestra as a blue stream of affirmation, honoring Chief Nike Okundaye and the story-rich textile traditions of Nigeria’s Nike Art Gallery, where cloth carries history and dye holds truth. Housed inside the historic Kings Theatre in Flatbush, Brooklyn - a palace of Black imagination, the stage becomes more than structure. It becomes a portal. Black joy deserves scale, ceremony, and permanence. Communion as Monument means the gathering itself is the legacy. I’m grateful for every soul I crossed paths with on this journey. Being in cahoots + fellowship with so many artists and individuals living their dreams spawned an indescribable energy. A week later, my mind is just as blown. Being present in camera meetings as @davefree & @hamishhamiltontv plotted the course (both fresh off of the Grammys) is a paramount career highlight that I may never top - but I’ll die trying. I can only express gratitude. I’ll forever regard being welcomed into an artist’s creative process as a sacred occurrence. The dedication + work ethic of our leaders was palpably contagious and admirable. It was an absolute honor to support these visionaries 🙏🏿 From the east side of Detroit (48205 🫡) to the Super Bowl. What’s next y’all? 🤯
