Dear LEMONADE, 🍋 An era that holds such a special place in my heart—the era I first stepped into the Parkwood chat. Haha. Time really does have a way of making us reflect and refill our glass of gratitude. To have been a part of such an iconic moment in time remains one of the most defining highlights of my career. I had dreamed of working under @marnixmarni for so long. I connected deeply with her eye, her edge, and her ability to trailblaze fashion through art—while just being that girl, period! After a few previous jobs together, I was brought on as a Junior Assistant among a team of five incredibly talented superior Assistant Stylists. The blood, sweat, and tears we poured into this era is unmatched. I watched Marni and the Assistant Stylist with so much admiration—their skillset truly shaped everything I know today. #MxM I remember being in New York, pulling pieces for the visual album. The excitement of contributing—even in a small way—to something so impactful, with such an iconic artist, felt surreal. At the time, I frequented a showroom I absolutely loved called Mahna Mahna.(IYKYK) I don’t think they’re still around, but they had ALL the tings! Fast forward-That visual album led to the opportunity to work on the 2016 MTV Awards performance. I remember we needed additional African jewelry for the dancers, and as a Harlem resident, nothing made me happier than hopping on the train to Malcolm Shabazz Market and buying everything they had that day. The vendors had no idea why I was purchasing so much,but I promised I’d come back and show them what it was for. And I did. I’ll never forget the look on their faces—jaw-dropped, in tears—watching the performance and seeing their pieces come to life on that stage. That moment will forever be tied to LEMONADE for me. The VMAs turned into The Formation World Tour, and if you’ve been following my journey, you know how I worked my way up to becoming the Stylist I am today. So for me, this era is more than the music, it’s more than the clothing. It’s the catalyst that opened my mind to the possibilities and I haven’t stopped exploring since. I pray this inspires you Happy 10 year anniversary to thee LEMONADE. 🍋
