THE BOY WHO COULD | Created by yours truly. Back in 2019, when @chriscrooked first introduced @serropark and me to @joselopez_lowridertattoo , I had a limited understanding of black & grey tattooing and an even narrower grasp of the many doors that would soon be opened. What was expected to be a standard 8-hour session (on none other than @abiru_tattoo 🤯) turned into a classic Jose Lopez marathon: 15 hours of straight grit, guts, and pain wrapping up at 8AM the next morning. Something must’ve gone right during that first exchange because 3 months later, we found ourselves smack dab in the heart of Beijing on the latest @lowridertattoostudio campaign. Fast forward to today — 6 years, 6 countries, and an infinite amount of laughter, lessons, and Old Fashioneds later (not to mention 100+ shared hours of tattooing across both my arms), Jose and I are collaborating on our 11th project together! Here’s a small bite from a larger piece that’s currently in the lab, all captured on MiniDV and Handycam for taste (there may even be some Super 8 around the corner 👀). FROM PARIS WITH LOVE 🫶🏼 first time shooting Super 8, it only felt right to go with classic black & white. Captured through a Minolta XL601 from the late 70s, thank you @dricthedad for the loaner! Don’t get me wrong, I love a rich, dense modern digital image with massive dynamic range but this was just something else 😮‍💨
