@chaotu.art and I ran a few workshops at the beginning of the project last year, together we built a story of an ecosystem forming new connections with an AI data center. Some of those connections were encoded into the software simulation, on view now at ZKM. We plan to run a virtual workshop soon, more info coming soon โจ

I started this project out of a personal curiosity -- when I run a ML algorithm from my New York apartment, how many real-world locations are affected by it? A little research showed server farms in Virginia and the Netherlands directly responding to my requests -- and some further digging led to 35 rare earth mines in 5 continents at the very beginning of the supply chain.

This installation attempts to put those pieces together with a multichannel soundscape and an industrial mining landscape generated with GAN. It's on display till Feb 2023 as part of BioMedia -- stop by if you are in Shanghai โค๏ธโ๐ฅ
