Another Event! Tuesday, May 13 @ 7:30 PM (Living Room) ‘How We Hold Our Bodies in a World of Sight & Sound’ with Michael T. Middleton & David Isaac Hecht In what ways did people a hundred years ago hold their bodies, that we don’t anymore? How do we hold our bodies now, that people never may again? What does immersive technology mean for the future of the moving body - for work, for pleasure, for anything - and what can we learn about the future from the past? TowardXR and the Cybernetics Library invite you to join us at Prime Produce for the launch of ongoing talks about what it means to analyze technology and the human experience by revisiting the witness of the past - specifically, technology-adjacent books that were published prior to April 29, 1993 (in other words, the day before CERN made public the source code for the World Wide Web.)

David, who is a key member of @primeproduce is showing me the rescued turtles from @earthlings.nyc Prime Produce Apprentice Cooperative operates a grassroots, cooperatively-run member space. This is a place where friends, family, and neighbors cultivate the craft of community service. Earthlings NYC creates programming to nourish citizen science and ecology-related education in their communities. They provide opportunities for learners of all ages to interact with creatures they may not otherwise encounter living in New York City. Stunned by my first visit to Prime Produce 2 years ago, Prime Produce has continued to thrive and create cultural impact in Midtown New York, Hell’s Kitchen. It is a community event space, library, material bank, co-working space, and much more to come. Board director Yuko told me: „When it comes to running a cooperative, instead of looking for like-minded people, look for people with different perspectives. We can grow our perspectives together and challenge ourselves.“ David, who is a key member of Prime Produce, introduced me to their collaborative ecosystem and the projects they’ve done in the building.
