Finally, introducing our Project Space exhibition for 𝑀𝒾𝓃𝑒, 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇𝓈, 𝑜𝓊𝓇𝓈! 🤲 PROJECT SPACE: 𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨: 𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙥𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙧𝙚 ♾️ @lingx22 Essay by @simon_liyantong 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟲–𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 📍Opening Reception: Friday, May 15, 2026 from 7pm–10pm 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴: 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦 brings together three bodies of work from my ongoing research project 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴, which examines how online platforms turn bodies into both material and medium for endless cycles of production and consumption. Using collected TikTok videos, the exhibition reimagines these digital bodies through three abstract forms—experimental video, large-scale collage, and a projection-based media installation. Together, the works translate scrolling rhythms into a physical environment of loops, density, and pulsation. The exhibition invites audiences to linger beyond a single scroll, sitting with desire’s repetition while reflecting on (and resisting) the compulsion to consume. The project and exhibition are generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.

"Edging the Unscratchable Digital Itch" curated by @lingx22 opens tonight at @interaccessto The show features a new video installation, which was made in conversation with Ling as a response to his curatorial premise. The work features 8 CNC milled relief pieces based on the textures generated and parsed in the process of capturing a 3D scan. Huge thank you to the wonderful technicians at @ocadrp for their hard work and support, without whom the production of the work would not have been possible. To quote Ling's exhibition essay: "The work asks what happens when edge detection fails: when subject, object, and background collapse into a hybrid. Treating the "edge" as a seam that can be opened or shifted to the point of rupture."

Hope to see you this Wednesday, Oct 29th at 7-9 for the opening of 2025 IA Cuurent at InterAccess (@interaccessto ), Edging the Unscratchable Digital Itch! 🤳 Opening Reception October 29 at 7 – 9 PM 🤳  🤳 Gallery Hours October 30 – November 11, Tues – Sat, 11 – 6 PM Edging the Unscratchable Digital Itch, the 2025 IA Current Exhibition, explores restless sensations, traces of a system built upon an attention economy that exploits attention by promising relief it cannot deliver. ‍New media artists Sarah Boo (@sareeboo ), Axl Le (@axlleyi ), Michael Luo (@anything_4_cv ), Sophia Oppel (@sophia_oppel ), Iris QU Xiaoyu (@iris_xiaoyu ) & Niles Fromm (@nilesfromm ), and David Yu (@scissorkick ) offer tactics that edge rather than scratch. The exhibition veils vision with abstraction, slowing information exchange, staging conditional performance, challenging reward loops, misusing technical tools, and stretching AI’s generative flatness into durational inquiry. Almost counterintuitive to our consumer habit, 2025 IA Current Curator Lingxiang Wu invites us to interrupt fast consumption by sitting with these artworks and with ourselves. 🤳🤳🤳 Closing Performance Displaced Nostalgia: Itch by JeeMin Kim (@jeemin.studio ) & Sheung King (@sheung_king ) Saturday, December 6, 11 – 6PM #interaccess #exhibition #torontoart #newmediaart #digitalart #digitalitch

Excited to be a part of this group exhibition ! Come on through folks - this will be a fun one :) Edging the Unscratchable Digital Itch – Curated by Lingxiang Wu @lingx22 OPENING RECEPTION Wednesday, October 29 InterAccess, 7 - 9PM Displaced Nostalgia: Itch (Closing Performance) Saturday, December 6, 11 – 6PM GALLERY HOURS October 30 – November 29, 2025 Tuesday - Saturday, 11 – 6PM InterAccess is pleased to present the 24th Annual IA Current Exhibition, Edging the Unscratchable Digital Itch, curated by Lingxiang Wu. We live with a restless discomfort just under the skin—an itch that keeps the thumb scrolling, the eye refreshing, the body performing. Edging the Unscratchable Digital Itch frames that feeling as the trace of a system built upon the attention economy, exploiting our attention by promising relief it cannot deliver. Anchored by Byung-Chul Han’s “aesthetic of the smooth” and Lauren Berlant’s “cruel optimism”, the exhibition reads today’s digital feeds—mukbangs, thirst traps, frictionless shorts—as surfaces engineered for instant legibility and circulation. Smoothness gratifies on contact but withholds depth; optimism binds us to visibility and arrival that platforms continually defer. Six new media artists offer tactics that edge rather than scratch: veiling vision with abstraction, slowing information exchange, staging conditional performance, challenging reward loops, misusing technical tools, and stretching AI’s generative flatness into durational inquiry. Almost counterintuitive to our consumer habit, 2025 IA Current Curator Lingxiang Wu invites us to interrupt fast consumption by sitting with these artworks and with ourselves.
