Some projects are bold, some quiet, some playful, and some deeply intentional. Every brand and campaign deserves its own distinct visual voice.
The reel is set to launch after 2025 Lunar New Year—a little late, but still the perfect time to reflect on my design journey.
The most exciting part? I believe the best work is always ahead… and there’s so much more to explore. 💛
Big thanks to all my clients, friends, and collaborators along the way.
Here’s to many more. If I may, LFG. 👟

🔴 This collection of posters was designed by Gydient (Trà Giang) in the course "Move the System - Kinetic poster design" by Martin Lorenz (Animation course by Verena Kiesinger and Alica Pfister) at Department Design HAW Hamburg. Kinetic typography, variable fonts, liquid branding, dynamic identities & generative design are just a few terms that we have come across more and more in recent years. Some have been in discussion for some time, others have just been added. They are indicators of a paradigm shift in communication design. The development from static to flexible.

The Legend of Zelda has been a significant part of our youth. For most of us, playing it again fills our nostalgic crave. Tho for our incredible Gydient @gydient , it has been a creative fuel for her recent works. Oh, slide to see if she prefers wurst or xuc xich :)))
NTJ Type System is built on two complementary families, NTJ Display and NTJ Sans, crafted to express culturally sophisticated luxury with contemporary clarity. The development of the type system was created in close collaboration with @gydient Trà-Giang Nguyễn,ensuring both conceptual depth and technical precision.

This year, I had the honor of speaking at @agi_open 2025, alongside legends like @stefansagmeister , @tony_brook_spin , and @booksloveliza , those who have always been my inspiration.
The talk was not really about design. It’s more about curiosity in my design journey.
Thank you, Base SGN (@thisis.rice , @joshuabreidenbach , @vicvicbaby , @not.about.us and team), for the hard work behind this event and for having me. And thank you to all the friends and colleagues who attended and came to say hi! 💛 ——

NEW WORK DROP!
Here’s the project I design directed with the team at @hyperfocus.cc for @imagine.berlin , a sonic creative agency. IMAGINE works with clients across the spectrum, from high art to full-blown commercial, so we aimed for the brand concept to reflect that versatility.
We developed an "Expressive Type" system that conveys different sounds and incorporated a visible grid to ensure the brand remains cohesive.

Join us for a discussion on AI that goes beyond the technical details, and focuses on creativity and experimentation.
AI comes with its own set of challenges: rapid changes, and areas that feel out of control. But these challenges also bring exciting opportunities to innovate in our workflows.
At the “Always in Beta” talk at Future Playground, organized by @peterschmidtgroup , Paul Watmough-Halim, Jan Stein from Hyperfocus, and @gydient will share their experiences and insights.

Turns out, learning how to use emotion can help you design better. People often remember how they feel instead of the numbers and data on the design.
In the talk “FONTS MAKE YOU FEEL”, I walked through various case studies. From commercials to personal projects, each work has one dominant emotion, like joy, anxiety, anger, or fear.

“FONTS MAKE YOU FEEL” is now my favorite talk I’ve given so far. I was amazed by the long applause. It was full of emotions...👁️👄👁️
In this talk, I highlighted how fonts can help differentiate your brand and product among competitors. I also told some fun stories that had never been told before, such as the process of making the kinetic cover design for TYPEONE 2nd Issue.
It was an honor to be on stage with many letter experts, like Annie Atkins, Beatloz, and Lucas de Groot, just to name a few.
Special thanks to Mr. Siebert for connecting me to @berlinletters . Shout out to @liebefonts and @allthingsletters for their amazing work in organizing this event!
And big thanks to the incredible support from my team at @hyperfocus.cc !
Not to forget to mention my biggest supporter who helped me prepare for the talk and took these beautiful photos, @q___ngo 💙
I’ll be sharing some fun snippets from the talk soon. 😉
We’re excited @gydient will give her first in person talk at Berlin Letters. Don’t miss it!
Tra Giang Nguyen, also known by her digital pseudonym Gydient, is a progressive creative based between Vietnam and Germany. She’s deeply passionate about typography and brand design. For Giang, fonts are vital tools for communication, and she revels in crafting new typefaces with specific purposes. Her focus in type design primarily caters to branding, where she enjoys experimenting with witty and unconventional typefaces.
Currently, Giang works as a design director at Hyperfocus in Hamburg, while also being a creative partner at Fustic.Studio. In early 2023, she launched a long-term digital project called Exposed Virtual Anonymity (EVA), where she created the Exposed Anonymity typeface, which serves as a code and is barely decodable.
