Responding to the powerful, collective act of making, First Breath explores the human voice as a primary technology, sounding our polyvocal museum through being and breath. Directed by @imogen__knight__moves__ @philippafiona and Sian O’Gorman, voice and body move together through the building, tracing cycles of ascent and descent, gathering and dispersal, stillness and release. . 🌕 Full Moon. Five Years. New Beginnings! Under November’s full moon, I photographed the closing ceremony of @girlstwiddlingknobs at @strongroom.studios , a celebration marking five powerful years of championing and supporting women and gender-diverse people in music. Founded by the visionary @isobel_andersonnn GTK has been part community, part podcast, part education platform. The night felt like a collective exhale, honouring what’s been built and welcoming what’s next. The night moved through Isobel’s opening reflections, a grounding full moon ceremony, a stunning live performance from @afromerm and a powerful and sometimes hilarious industry panel, before closing with a standing ovation for Isobel, who shared what’s next for her. Each moment carried the same energy: community, creativity, strength, courage and an appropriate amount of defiance. As is often the case, I documented the event freehand with available light. She’d booked a week-long stay in the flat, featureless coastal landscape near Dungeness, to creatively explore the subject of existential grief for a new project, End Times. And it’s fair to say Abba hadn’t featured in her plans. But the brightly lit caravan park full of people dressed up, living their lives in contrast to the dark desolation of the surrounding environment, is the perfect microcosmic metaphor for Anderson’s focus.” Head to gethastings.com for the full story.

My MIDI-Sampled ‘Soap Rack From Space’ – Producer In Progress @ Sunstone Studio | 22-10-2025 Today, in my Home Recording Academy music production course, I had the opportunity to experiment with field recordings and MIDI instruments. I had a lot of fun recording various things from around the studio, but was blown away at the reverb in my bathroom when I strummed my soap rack with a lighter. So when we moved on to MIDI and how to create your own MIDI instrument from field recording samples, I knew I had to use my soap rack sample. I then adjusted the ADSR, and the result was this cool spacey sound! 💬 What do you think of the vibe?
