From perfecting the art of moving like a snake, to embodying my inner Wonder Woman like never before, to getting back on my feet. All with the help of my sister, who was there every step of the way. This is the journey of the first six weeks post knee surgery equipped with non-weight-bearing crutches and full leg brace. I’ve got a long way to go before I can jump, hop, run, dance and be a ninja, but I’m so happy to be walking again. Editor’s note: What this video doesn’t show are what it’s like having to shower on the toilet, be scared most of the time of putting your entire body weight through just the one leg and hopping about, when the leg brace just feels weird and it feels like the surgery has undone itself, when people just stare at you or tell you to be careful… So many moments of frustration, and so many milestones reached and moments to celebrate. This trip was the absolute opposite of what I imagined : normally I end up living in a bamboo hut in the middle of nowhere and going on a lot of adventures… This trip is being in a luxury bubble, fighting all the time with the insurance company, and asking for help for every little thing… As I said before, Bali gives you what you need, not what you want! #physiotherapy #Rehab #Snake #WonderWoman #Sisters

Out of meniscal surgery and coming back to life. I will be getting to know this leg brace well. And perfecting the art of non-weight-bearing crutches for 6 weeks. And many months of physio. Very grateful for all the support at the Bali International Hospital, my insurance company, my sister by my side and all the lovely words of support that I am starting to get to. So sometimes I’m smiling and sometimes I’m whoozy and overwhelmed. I’ve actually been listening to my recently released sleep tracks at night, which has been really comforting! Trust the flow. (And no, it was not a motorbike or base-jumping accident. It was simply a dance class and something that could have happened anywhere.) 💪🙏✨ #life #trust #theuniversehasmyback #travel #matrix

A quick note to say I’m having urgent knee surgery in a few days in Bali. Lots to be grateful for. Luckily the insurance is covering the surgery, accommodation move and for my sister to fly out. But it’s been far from easy to get to this point. Love and humour welcome. Updates as and when… For those who love to ask : what is this showing you? I will say, it’s another massive lesson to surrender and trust I’m looked after. I think we all know it is not easy getting answers and working out what to do alone with a locked meniscus in your knee in another country. And my laptop broke down a few days ago too, now in a repair shop awaiting diagnosis. Really hope it pulls though. So what with the giant rats in the kitchen, the lizard bite on my left foot ( apparently auspicious?), eye infection, the water, gas, internet and a few other things also packing up, is this all to do with the dregs of the year of the snake?! My Ubud base. Which found me. And the lizard that found my left foot! (all 30 cm of it). Sharp sting and a lot of blood. Apparently it’s auspicious if a lizard touches a women on their left foot. My first week in Ubud, Bali. I didn’t ever plan on coming here, but through some crazy unfolding, here I am. I went running on my first day, north into the rice fields, and literally ran into someone’s house, who a few days later found me my Bali home… So I’m exploring and embracing a new place and energy, whilst finishing projects and creating space for new.
