!OBSIDIAN! My latest site-specific work created within the historic Riddels Warehouse in Belfast officially opened last night! Huge thánnkkkü to over 500 people who came to the launch ৎˊ͈ˣੰૢˋ͈ॢॽ∗｡<!!!> Deep gratitude to the truly incredible team at DAS, Angela, Richard, and Catherine for their amazing support and helping me make this happen. Earlier iterations of OBSIDIAN were presented this year at @immaireland and currently screening at @nxtmuseum Amsterdam, but this marks the first time the work has been realised in its full, immersive form <!> OBSIDIAN examines cyclical processes of destruction, rebirth, trauma, and betrayal, reflecting on transformation as both rupture and renewal. Aoife Dunne (@efadone ) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores the dynamic intersection of physical and virtual spaces. 👾 Known for her immersive installations that combine sculpture, video, sound, performance, costume, and technology, her work delves into concepts of identity, intimacy, and the nature of reality, examining the profound impact of technology on perception and place. Drawing inspiration from digital culture, fantasy, surrealism, and social critique, Dunne constructs vibrant, multi-sensory environments that challenge conventional notions of reality and self. Her practice pushes the boundaries between the material and immaterial, offering transformative experiences that redefine the relationship between technology, art, and embodiment. Dunne’s work was selected from our Open Call for visual artists and will be displayed on our largest LED Wall in the museum’s entrance hall for one week only, starting today, May 19. !ëxcited to finally be able to share some images of KINETIC COMPULSIONS commissioned by @meta and curated by the amazing @surepure & Eoin Donnelly. Using expanded photographic methods of image processing, computational sculpture, digital painting and 3D graphics, this site-specific work reaches a synthesis in which colour, light, movement, and space converge. KINETIC COMPULSIONS is inspired by the industrial nature and functionality of its surrounding environment, capturing the essence of motion and the passage of time, imbued with a futuristic aesthetic. The hyperreal compositions exhibit a dense abstraction that seamlessly balances movement and stillness, giving the illusion of perpetual change. The works are comprised of an eclectic blend of media, textures, and materials. The process of reworking and interweaving hundreds of layers of physical and digital material reflects a metaphor of unity and interaction, juxtaposed with the chaotic visual nature of the individual elements. The complex form of both the digital works and biomorphic neon sculpture suggests the folds and flow of energy, highlighting the fusion between technology and nature, embodying the central theme of the artist's long-standing exploration of hybrid worlds. *The work consists of a 50m neon sculpture, chrome walls, mirrored floor & five 2.5m x 1.5m large scale works produced by the brilliant @iarts_jim *This work is not open for public viewing. .ೃ࿐
