Raw Collaborative - Design Cultures with @aakar_br , extends its sincere gratitude to @obeetee for coming together for Everything but a Carpet. . We thank Rudra Chatterjee, Mitakshara Kumari, Anu Gupta, Arpit Porwal, Megha Vaishya, and Shreya Kanoi and the entire Obeetee team for their trust and generosity in opening up their archives and ideas to the showcase. By lending decades-old carpet graphs from their collection, sharing insights into their evolving material innovations, and bringing forward the journey of their women weavers’ centres, Obeetee helped shape the beginning of a conversation that moves beyond the object itself. . Their patronage reminded us that design is not only about what we produce, but also about the histories we preserve, the communities we support, and the systems of making that continue to evolve with time. Through these gestures, Obeetee offered a glimpse into the larger ecosystem behind the craft — one where heritage, experimentation, and social impact coexist. . What appears as a carpet unfolds as infrastructure: of geometry, labour, drawing, sampling, teaching, and material innovation. Each artist, designer, architect, and craftsperson engages this embedded system, translating it into new material forms—wood, brass, porcelain, reclaimed fragments, PET yarn, archive, and image. The result is not departure, but continuity through transformation. .
