Mehfil : Wall mounted grotto. Limited edition of 22. A shrine that celebrates three beautiful species from the Indian subcontinent that are endangered, illustrated by @ilcieloinunasogliola and translated with mastery in marquetry by @sampigeandco . 10 different species of wood used, no stains , all natural colors selected from different parts of the timber to gracefully match the watercolour gradients. We designed this piece to make an object that had all the glory and beauty in an intimate scale, something precious like the story it tells. DM FOR DETAILS. 📸 @m.angesh , @ilcieloinunasogliola

A true collaboration with @studiomoebius , this piece is my favourite so far. A console where ideas around Old world, Tanjore, mid century, Industrial, ornate and Madras, all blend into this floating story of the native land. Etched brass, teak, stone. Swipe till the end to see some process images. 📷 @m.angesh

Shovon’s chair. Custom made last year as a special request by musician @shovon_bassiq , to be able to play his double bass as well as his guitars in different seated positions. Because he spends long hours playing these instruments, it went through multiple rounds of iterations, some after a few months of Shovon using it and recommending minor adjustments. Primarily led by @peesauf , this was quite different from our ongoing projects and a fun reminder that designing the right chair is quite a task. 📸 @m.angesh

From design school classmates to now collaborators, this was a long time coming. Having closely been involved in each others practice in the city, we finally got together at the studio to launch this Art Deco inspired triptych mirror at @designmumbai_ . Got some great reactions , good selfies and was a pleasure unpacking the process. The King of Spades ft. @ashwinmallya Special mention to @peesauf for keeping product development energy always at a high at Chacko. 📸 @m.angesh

King of Spades- Triptych mirror ft. @ashwinmallya The discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb set off a beautiful frenzy in ornate Art Deco. The desire to make an object from this idea, with architectural details led us to design a mirror in collaboration with Ashwin, who’s expertise in tile design and research around heritage flooring particularly excited us. ‘The King of Spades’ marries Ashwin’s disciplined linework with precise machining and hand craft, all while preserving the wonder and mysticism that such a discovery once inspired. The mirror doors themselves are an exercise in symmetry, moulding design and mathematical spacing. The form does have a majestic presence , opulent and demanding attention , but once opened , the mirror is bare with only the a cinematic reflection of the viewer, illuminated by the drama of candlelight. DM for pricing and details. 📸 @m.angesh

Scenes lately- One of our ongoing collaborations with @ashwinmallya is in its final stages. What a pleasure it’s been so far with each step, and now the nervous excitement starts. Completely by coincidence this is coming to life with the year that celebrates 100 years of Art Deco. @designmumbai_ Shot by @m.angesh
