It is said that the water remains cold if stored in an earthen pot, or a matka, a term often used in Indian traditional households... but this humble vessel holds far more than the summer relief. It cradles the very essence of India. If one closely looks at the rich, rustic colour of the terracotta, it feels as if this is the colour of our heritage- warm, sunbaked, and rooted in the very soil that birthed us. It is the exact shade of the earth breathing after the first monsoon shower, and a tribute to the skilled hands of local potters who spin poetry from mud. With summer in its full swing, we go back to our roots, and reflect on the beauty of a colour so close thome- terracotta.
Terracotta isn’t a colour. It’s a memory.
Of clay drying on a Bhadohi rooftop. Of the inside of a kulhad still warm from chai. Of the hour just before dusk, when the sun lets go and the walls of an old haveli turn the colour of cinnamon. Of bare feet on a courtyard floor in May, finding the one cool patch.

A few years ago, we began with the women weavers initiative, the inception of which was our belief that women from the village belt of bhadohi, women who seldom get the oppurtunity to give an arch to their identity, should get an oppurtunity. Urmila Devi, is a perfect epitome of the success of this initiative, and proof that all women want is an oppurtunity, the right consideration, and the rest will follow. True craftsmanship thrives when the artist is at peace and his work liberates him. For Shyamdhar Yadav, our master Carver, that peace comes from a beautiful balance between the loom and the land. His journey with Obeetee began with a spark of pure intuition, when he stepped in to perfectly demonstrate a complex burning technique we were experimenting with, earning his place in the family instantly.
Since that day, he has brought immense soul to the finishing touches of our rugs. But what makes Shyamdhar ji’s story so special is the harmony he has found here.
He, in his own words, wouldn’t have his life any other way, and we are so honored to be a part of it.

They say a brand is its people, and at the very heart of Obeetee is Tripathi ji.
As our Naksha expert, he doesn’t just draw patterns, but holds the very blueprint of our legacy in his hands.
Without his in depth understanding of the craft, the loom remains still and a carpet simply cannot begin to take shape. Tripathi ji takes a design and gives it a pulse, meticulously translating imagination into the precise, knot-by-knot rhythm our weavers follow. He is the true architect of our art. As he patiently crafts the foundation of the rug, he creates the foundation of your homes.

Two carpets. Two narratives.
Inside the Salon, the Hunting Tabriz from the museum collection draws from one of the most enduring Persian design traditions, the royal hunt. A record of power, movement, and courtly life, translated into a surface of extraordinary detail.
Outside, the Vase design shifts the language. Floral vines emerge from a central vessel, a quiet metaphor for abundance, continuity, and the idea of life unfolding.
Both are hand knotted in 100% New Zealand wool, at a density of 300 knots per square inch.
A single 10 Ă— 8 ft carpet takes over 300 days to complete.
Craft here is time, discipline, and memory made visible.
In collaboration with Obeetee.
How do you translate the elegance of a hand-knotted rug into a dining experience? Space stylist @figmentbylalima (Lalima Chhabra) shares her creative process for our first Loom to Table event at Diva. A masterclass in color, texture, and bringing an Italian garden to life through design.

Where thought and form meet freely.
At our recent Loom to Table gathering, Obeetee had the honor of hosting an intimate dinner for Delhi’s design visionaries. The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the stunning Nakshatra Collection by Mariella Ienna, sparking dialogue that we know will ripple outward to reimagine the creative landscape. A special thank you to Lalima and her team for a beautiful experience as masterful as the craftsmanship on display.

Introducing, Loom to Table, Chapter I.
What happens at the table?
Every work of art begins begins as a conversation-unhurried, meandering, unfolding between people who know how to listen. It’s in these moments that ideas emerge gently shaped by shared sensibility.
At Obeetee, we have always believed in the beauty of such exchanges. In the way dialogue between art and design can ripple outward, subtly reimagining the creative landscape.
The Loom to Table series is born from this very instinct- to create spaces where thought and form can meet freely.
