*NEW* Adolescence by Malick Bodian *Available Now* […] The beauty of adolescence perhaps lies in those remnants of childhood that sometimes blur the boundary between reality and fiction. For in Africa we are, viscerally, a continent of invocations, of conjurations, of projections, of manifestations. A land of spells, of panegyric verses, of mythical tales shared by moonlight. Things that are because they are told. — Olivia Anani, Initiations, introduction to Adolescence, Cotonou, 15 September 2025 — Adolescence by Malick Bodian @malickbodian Foreword: Olivia Anani @outrenoirs Poems: Ramata-Toulaye Sy Maps: Max Kohler @maxakohler Painting on cover: Antonio Oba @antoniooba_br Malick Bodian is a Senegalese photographer born in Mbao, Dakar in 1997. He lives and works between France and Senegal. Malick began his journey in front of the camera, but it was through his travels and encounters across different countries that he discovered a deeper passion for storytelling through images. His curiosity and desire for self-expression led him to photography, teaching himself the craft as a way to reconnect with his roots and his home. Through his lens, Malick seeks to capture moments of grace, identity, and contemporary life. His work reflects a genuine appreciation for the beauty and individuality of his subjects, portraying them with warmth and dignity. While collaborating with leading fashion brands and publications, he continues to develop personal projects that celebrate the richness and singularity of African stories. — Printed offset by Verona Libri @veronalibri (Verona, IT). Front cover: 4 pages section, printed 4 colour, CMYK on Tatami 250gsm, debossed. Back cover: 4 pages section, printed 2 colour, black + white on Favini Burano Desert 250gsm. Inner: 40 pages, printed 2 colour, K + white on Favini Burano Desert 90gsm, and 80 pages printed 4 colour, CMYK on Garda Matt Rough 120gsm. Binding: sewn, exposed spine, gauze glued to spine with silkscreen print. Ex. Coda 5

What do we start with when telling a story — What tensions activate it — What does it promise — What do we want from it — How do we deliver it — Must it have an end — What about a story which never began — Stories we wish were told — Stories which have always been there — Stories we don’t know how to start. Beginnings is a collective attempt at questioning protocols and forms of narration, initiated by Manon Michèle. The publication gathers textual and visual works from twenty-nine artists, writers and collectives. With two covers, ninety-six pages, and no end, the publication remains in flux, with no definitive conclusions but the shape of an ongoing question: Where do we start and where might the act of arriving lead.
