Since a few months I have been working on a series of lino-etchings titled (for now) "Eres mi hogar", and as the collection grows I thought of sharing the latest one here. In the summer in Madrid, near the end of the day, the sky gets filled with clouds of black swifts. Last week, when my friend Rémy came to visit, we did some investigation and found out that these birds almost never land, some even for months. They do everything flying, including sleeping, as the one depicted on this etching.

Two days ago i spent the afternoon working at a friend's beautiful studio in carabanchel, and saw a field full of blossomed poppies on my way there. I can't wait to print this etching, I think it's already my fav from the series I've been making lately. Also yesterday I had the best encebollado with my roommate near his work so i thought it was worth a picture, tchuss xx

Very happy to have contributed a series of illustrations for @mubinotebook magazine by @mubi for their 8th issue "Shoestring Spaghetti" devoted to food on film. The illustrations depict 3 storefronts of bookshops in New-York specialized in cook books, in order of apparition @kalnyc , @omnivorebooks , and @bonnieslotnickcookbooks . Go get your copy in your nearby bookshop! Beautifully designed by the greats @mapinyourmind and @tomlobobrennan . <3

One of the most spontaneous yet meaningful collaborations since graduation! Poster made for my friend @macymeissie 's evening dedicated to the home at @cinetolamsterdam , with artists @meinderttalma , Erick Beltrán, @manoirmolle , @c.t.h.fransen , @andreas_klein_27 and @jotoandthesunshines , Friday the 20th of June Amsterdam don't miss it! The poster is a love letter to both our homes, combining objects and totems from Meis's house and mine. Also sharing the covers of 2 records i was listening to while working on the design, which found their way back into the layout. For those interested in a copy of the poster for their living rooms toilets or bedrooms, send a dm! Risoprinted A2 at @knustpress

A couple of weeks ago, we printed a second run of "The Quantum Isle", a (song-)book written by Amsterdam based artist @the.sasahara , at a local print shop in Madrid. I am so proud of the result! The book looks much nicer compared to the first run when we handled almost all the production ourselves. Here is the documentation of these past great weeks spent in the shop, besos!

Details of The Quantum Isle “As often in my work, I started the project of the Quantum Isle with the creation of a myth which serves as a fertile ground for other poetic manifestations around the original text (music, installation, performances etc.). For the writing of this book, I decided to approach the text in a new fragmented way, intercrossing the main narrative with letters and music scores. The music becomes the bridge between reality (the letters) and fantasy (the myth), exposing the fact that both are one and the same, only approached through different means. Regarding the design, the only constraint I had was to collaborate with someone who would understand the rhythm of the text and be able to maneuver the scores. Pablo’s attentive work allowed the material to breathe and be easily accessible despite the tiny available space. Additionally, he created a character embodied in the letter Q that inhabits the book and grows with it, similarly to the ghost voices described in the story. The Quantum Isle is now nurturing other manifestations through a sound installation and a performance, so stay tuned for the new stuff coming!” Concept, writing, composition: SasaHara Ghanem-Chaney (@the.sasahara ) Graphic design: @pablobardinet Binded at the @bbbbgrabb Production assistant: @vic_hoo Printed at the @rietveldacademie

“The Quantum Isle is now a book! Originally an academic exercise of a master’s thesis at the Sandberg Institute, the work quickly grew out of its original frame and, as often art stuff does, it asked to become a tangible object to be shared. Some discussions are happening backstage but it will become accessible in bookshops in Amsterdam and possibly Paris, and then who knows.... The physical object was designed by Pablo Bardinet with whom we shared a very symbiotic collaborative process. I wanted a small object that’d still have a certain density. A small book that could feel like a totem, always in your pocket; a similar relationship that I had with Le Petit Prince, reading it each time I would travel somewhere to poeticize my interpretation of things. Pablo nurtured The Quantum Isle into becoming the small magical object it had to grow into.” Concept, writing, composition: SasaHara Ghanem-Chaney (@the.sasahara ) Graphic design: @pablobardinet Binded at the @bbbbgrabb Production assistant: @vic_hoo Printed at the @rietveldacademie
