It will be printed in the fourth issue of the Rietveld Journal, which will be distributed for free at the Rietveld Academie and beyond internationally!! YOU can curate a section, that others can contribute their texts and images to. Dreams, DIY tutorials, astrology, research, song lyrics, imaginary languages, grocery lists, dog-related content — anything goes. YOU can join our team and take part in making the Journal come to life — you can communicate with contributors, proofread the texts, plan and organise the launch and much more! 🪡 Looking back at last month’s Stab Binding workshops 📚 for the last Practicum Generale! Here are some of the books bound during the four sessions. Thank you to all our participants for their curiosity and colourful choices. 💙💛🤎🤍 Stab Binding, better known as Japanese Binding, is one of the oldest and most durable binding techniques. A pillar technique in the workshop, one embarks in a connect-the-dots game with a needle in one hand and thread in the other. It starts by picking papers, understanding their grain direction, then punching a series of strategically placed holes along the spine, after what pages are delicately sewn together. The arrangement of these punctures can be choreographed in various ways, giving you the freedom to explore the many configurations of diverse, and occasionally intriguing, patterns. 22.04.2026 - 19:00 Supporting Acts workshop series: BBringing it together: the making of a Colophon-Reader by @bbbbgrabb / Gersande Schellinx ‘BBringing it together: the making of a Colophon-Reader’ nodigt uit om de ondersteunende structuren te verkennen en de vaak onzichtbare arbeid achter het maken van publicaties te belichten. ‘Supporting Act(s), BBringing it together’ nodigt je uit om in de activistische bibliotheek @artivistlibrary van Nieuwe Vide te duiken en samen een Colophon-Reader te creëren. Een colofon beschrijft de sociale, materiële en economische processen die het publicatieproces vormgeven. Het geeft (al dan niet) erkenning aan schrijvers en collectieven, uitgevers en financieringsbronnen, plaatst het werk in tijd en ruimte en vermeldt ook auteursrechten en Creative Commons-licenties. De colofon belichaamt de collectieve inspanning die een boek maakt en onthult de arbeid die erachter schuilgaat, al is het niet altijd even expliciet. Samen verzamelen we colofons van publicaties uit de bibliotheek van Nieuwe Vide. Aan de hand van aantekeningen en gesprekken gaan we hiermee aan de slag en stellen we onze eigen ‘collectieve reader’ samen. Vervolgens drukken we deze en binden we hem in. Deze bundel dient tevens als leidraad voor het begrijpen van de uitgeverswereld en als naslagwerk voor het schrijven van uw eigen colofons, waarmee u uiteindelijk een 'colofon van colofons' creëert om de bundel mee af te sluiten. Iedere deelnemer ontvangt een eigen exemplaar. Je leert dus gelijktijdig ook boekbinden! ✨Teken Or Leave it organiseert workshops en open draws, om de week op woensdag. We’ve just returned from a week-long trip to Amsterdam—seven intense days of @designinquiry workshops where we both participated and hosted film screenings and sessions ourselves as @future_fragments_project . The week flew by in a moment, set in an amazing space in the north of the city at @gwamsterdam It was a true visual and intellectual feast: we cooked together, rescuing and re-using food that would otherwise have been discarded, all tied to the theme Future Salvage. There were inspiring encounters, a visit to the Karel Martens exhibition, film screenings with @juliavanmourik and films we brought from Poland, @agniepolska @kubamikurda @mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmae and countless evenings of discussion about the current state of visual language with an international group of designers, scholars, academics from the U.S., London, and across Europe. 📖📖📖During the last Practicum Generale, the Print-making and BB workshops teamed up to make ‘Library Readers’, looking for material, assembling, copying, cutting, ripping, printing and curating books from @libraryrietveldsandberg 🖇️✂️🔗Here are some snippets of some of those unique color- and textureful publications with spontaneously assembled narratives. The covers are monotype-printed with found materials around GRA and SI. Each group also worked around the format restriction (A4 glue binded) with fold-outs, gradient cuts or hidden prints.
