We have liftoff! Regular meetings for active and aspiring writers of all levels start next month, every other Sunday afternoon! Join us to work on that new blog post, get feedback on your novel, or just connect with fellow wordsmiths. Based on group interests, we will have opportunities for: ✍️ Individual Writing Time 🗣️ Group Discussion on Writing Topics 📝 Peer Review & Feedback 🧠 Writing Skills Exercises We will also host periodic workshops on specific writing topics and skills (stay tuned for details!) Come relax, meet new people, and enjoy a friendly afternoon at Nieuwe Vide. We’ll have free coffee and tea, space for casual chats, (card) games, and open discussions. 📣 That's a wrap on our Test Period! [NL in comments] We want to thank everyone for following & coming to The Living Room's first test run last month. Here's some highlights and reflections from our test period. !!Read to the end to see how you can help us!! 🍵 Community Café Our community café remained popular, gathering visitors every Thursday. We plan to keep running this once we reopen! 🥳 Event Highlights TRANS Magazine Writing Workshops & Launch Party Build Days: Brainstorming, Painting, and Mini-Library Building Queer Kitchen and Collective Voku Book Club, Board Games, and Build Days 🌱 Developing the Space On 21 Oct, community members were invited to join designer Linda van Bruggen in a discussion of themes and aesthetics for the new space. We’re excited to include the final designs in this post! We collected a lot of feedback about the space, and hope to implement as much as we can before and after opening. It includes, but is not limited to: 💡Improved lighting 🛋️Cozy furniture 💻Better workspaces 🪴More! Plants! 📚 Artivist Library We have seen so much generosity from the community, and are happy to keep receiving new book and zine donations! We are switching to a new cataloging system, and hope to reorganize the books so it's easier to browse. Although we can't lend books, we hope people come by to read with us! You can also make scans or copies of our books and zines, right in The Living Room! 💭 Future Plans The Living Room Will Return... In Spring 2026! (Date TBA) We hope to launch with a whole calendar of events and workshops, consistent hours for co-working, reading, and art-making, AND even more ways for you to make the space your own! We asked our community what they wanted and needed for an Artivist Library called The Living Room and @linski101 based the style of our place on those wants and needs. 💕 We are so excited and we will announce new opening dates and events for 2026! / We hebben een eigen huisstijl! Na ons laatste programma's (The Queer Image bij @schuurhaarlem en onze @jongfemcollectief film avond in Nieuwe Vide alletwee op 11 december), houden wij een Winterstop. Dit betekent dat de laatste wekelijkse Soephoek van het jaar zal plaatsvinden op 17 december (13:00) en de Soephoek én @tekenorleaveit weer terug zijn op 14 januari. Je kan de expositie van @artcore_haarlem bij @patronaathaerlem nog bezoeken t/m 14 december. Er zijn bij ons altijd mensen in het pand aanwezig, maar het Nieuwe Vide Team is met vakantie vanaf 22 december en daardoor ook niet bereikbaar t/m 4 januari. We kondigen nieuwe programma's aan vanaf januari! Op de hoogte blijven? There will always be people present in the building, but the Nieuwe Vide Team will be on holiday from December 22 and therefore not reachable until January 4. ⭐︎ 27TH NOV:: POTLUCK VOKU ⭐︎ In honour of the ending of the trial period for the @artivistlibrary , Jongfem Collective is hosting in collaboration with the other collectives a potluck voku (community kitchen) edition to meet, connect and dream up ideas for the space in the upcoming year! The end of 2025 is near and in times like these we need each other more than ever <3 So bring your favourite/signature vegan or veggie dish and let’s eat some good food with good company! ✦ From 19:30 onwards so people can join the Palestinian sit-in at Haarlem station (18-19). ♡ ⭐︎ 27 NOV: POTLUCK VOKU ⭐︎ De proefperiode van de @artivistlibrary is afgelopen en om dat te eren organiseert Jongfem Collectief samen met de andere collectieven een potluck voku om elkaar te ontmoeten en te dromen over de toekomst van de ruimte voor het aankomende jaar! 2025 is bijna ten einde in tijden zoals deze hebben we elkaar meer nodig dan ooit <3 Dus breng je favoriete vegan of veggie gerecht en laten we samen genieten van heerlijk eten en goed gezelschap! ✦ Vanaf 19:30 is iedereen welkom zodat mensen naar de Palestina sit-in kunnen op Haarlem Station (18-19u). ♡
