🔉OPEN CALL—the Sound + Gesture Lab returns this summer! Are you a movement artist working with sound? Or a sound artist working with movement? Or some uncategorizable other between forms? Every Sunday in June 2026, a curated group of artists across genres will experiment together over four sessions, blending music and dance into a shared improvisatory language. The lab then culminates into one spontaneous performance—no hierarchy, just sound + gesture in motion 🪽 📨We’re currently accepting rolling-based applications via link in bio! The inaugural lab in Nov 2025 was led by Nick Hallet (@nick_hallett ) and Kat Mustatea (@kmustatea ). Sound credit: lab participants in a session led by Chloe Alexandra Thompson (@chloealxandra )

The next iteration of CYBORG MIRROR is happening at @everywomanbiennial — Saturday, March 21 at @penandbrushnyc (29 E 22nd St, NYC). CYBORG MIRROR is a piece exploring live performance and mediated images with networked, real-time AI tools. Although it’s a solo performance, it’s been built iteratively with an incredible team — each phase adding collaborators, tools, and more complexity to the live network onstage. One thing that’s been striking as we keep building: the images the system produces shift alongside this charged political climate, sometimes feeling like an uninvited mirror of the moment we’re living through. This version goes deeper into:
• voice-to-voice LLM conversation (live) → transcribed speech returned as a voice-cloned reply in my own voice
• machine vision transformations of @iamfinley ’s drawings/set elements
• a real-time AI photography pipeline feeding projection With thanks to @edgecutart @jacobspillow @humanresourcesla @movementlabbarnard @baibrownu @first_draft_la @onassis.onx @collabartsnyu + collaborators @mingyong_art @classicshimmy @iamfinley @vviota @jaeneal @elowah @augusthenders @yumedaaa

We shared a new WIP iteration of Cyborg Mirror this week at @kmustatea ’s performance series @edgecutart , co-curated by @tanitajenderes . The space has this intimate, experimental energy where bodies, screens, and odd little technologies can actually collide in real time, which is exactly what this project needs. Cyborg Mirror is a real-time interactive media performance system I move through using scored improvisation and choreography. I slip into the character Ozempic Mommy to poke at what it feels like to live inside identities that are always being shaped—physically, digitally, psychically—by machines and by each other. I’ve been building the tech backbone of this with @mingyong_art and @classicshimmy at @hyperreallabs . Together we’ve stitched a network of live AI tools—LLMs, voice clones, photo and video generators—into something that actually listens and responds to audience prompts as they happen. Visual décor: @iamfinley Score: @vviota Producing support: @yumedaaa Movement direction: @elowah + @augusthenders Performance photo credit: @photo_by_baranova This line of research started in the Dara Fluencies Theater Project, and I’m hoping to keep growing it with more support. I’ll be showing a new iteration at the @everywomanbiennial soon. Thank you to everyone who came out and stepped into the experiment with me. It means a lot. . . . . . #touchdesigner #generativeai #newmediaart #videoart #choreography generativeart movementvisuals performanceart hci _____________________________
