Post-apocalyptic is constructive: St Celfer resists technology’s facilitation of power by navigating glitch-tronic failure and counterblasts through the vanishing point. Sound is amalgamated and congealed into a resolution of crossed and overloaded signals, opening new ways of perceiving a world constrained by the impositions of power. St Celfer devises instruments that focus on the interface between human and machine, mounted on a single microphone stand with interconnected gear designed to make music in the moment.

By enunciating the temporal, mechanical, and human elements of these audial conjunctions, the artist probes how these forces actively shape, and are shaped by, the fabrications of power. In the midst of this deliberate complexity, we are reminded: amidst the noise, the music is already there, waiting to be heard.

We are a collective of artists and researchers who are building SPAM New Media Festival as a space in Seattle for critical discussion around digital culture and technology-driven art, bringing together practitioners working from a postdigital perspective.
Festival events sit at the intersection of algorithmic art, moving image, immersive art, data-driven installations, robotics and more, and showcase experimental and novel ways to critically engage with a technologically mediated world. We look not only to create discourse around the intersection of art and technology, but ask how this crossover might raise important questions in regards to socio-political and ecological relations.

BTW: These are way before AI decided to co-op this symbol. When I originally researched it, this information was difficult to find. The form had been used by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Phillips Corporation with vague references to the Bethlehem star in Renaissance painting. Someday we'll join forces and take back from AI what is ours!

Happy to return to one of the most alive and kicking Seattle art events creatively organized by the folks at the University of Washington's @dxarts at one of the top 2 cool places in the Emerald City. Just come to see the building and definitely to see ground breaking art and, of course, the line up of performances starting at 8PM Friday, September 12. I'll also show gifs from over 2 decades ago by Tom Moody and me and a newly devised interactive animation by Puch Okruch of Gdansk.
I have no scheduled solo shows in the PNW in 2025-6. This one happens at the location that Steve Albini played his 'last' show as Big Black, smashed his guitar in honor of that finality and a young Kurt Cobain took a piece home only to return it after recording In Utero. I won't have a guitar strapped around my waist (as all guitars should be) but a harmonica / trumpet wrapped around a mic stand. + IT'S FREE!
