To be recognised as a @time Earth Awards honoree is not just a personal milestone, it is recognition of a global movement demanding climate justice, universal energy access, and a more equal future for all. #Climate action is no longer optional. It is about people, livelihoods, #energyaccess, food security and the future of our planet. Women are leading this transformation every day, from communities on the frontlines of #climateaction to boardrooms shaping #renewableenergy investments and policy. As we look ahead, the world must move faster, invest smarter, and act together. The clean #energytransition must be inclusive, equitable and urgent. The future depends on what we do now.

I was in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire this week and had several engagements focused on strengthening partnerships and accelerating sustainable #energyaccess across #Africa. Together with Hélène N'Garnim-Ganga, the @unitednations Resident Coordinator in Côte d'Ivoire, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, the President of the @afdb_group . We discussed deepening collaboration between the UN, Sustainable Energy for All and African Development Bank Group to foster green industrialisation and innovative finance models to achieve development at scale. Together with @olufemi.akinyelure , I also met with AfDB leadership, including Kevin Kariuki, @waleshonibare , Daniel Schroth, and Caroline Mwangi, we explored how deeper collaboration can accelerate sustainable energy access and drive long-term development outcomes across the continent. Strong partnerships, shared ambition and coordinated action will be essential to achieving universal energy access and sustainable development across Africa.

Closing the global #energy gap depends on strong international cooperation, and one of the decade’s most ambitious public-private-philanthropic partnerships is currently underway. This broad coalition known as #Mission300 led by the @worldbankgroup and the @afdb_group and supported by @seforall , @rockefellerfdn and @globalenergyalliance aims to bring electricity to 300 million people in #Africa by 2030. Together, we can make a historic change in global #energyaccess, accelerating the pace of #electrification across the world.

I am attending the @worldbankgroup Spring Meetings and I had the privilege of attending the annual Women Leaders Breakfast hosted by @bjerde_anna and @anshulakantcfo . We celebrated the remarkable legacy of @unitednations Deputy Secretary-General @aminajmohammed , whose leadership continues to drive progress in women’s economic empowerment. We also had insightful conversations on how strong policies, resilient institutions and private investment can unlock job creation and broaden economic opportunity. The gathering brought together an inspiring group of #women leaders from government, international financial institutions, intergovernmental organizations and the private sector, and it was great meeting and interacting with @dienekeita , @selmamalika_haddadi , @sandaojiambo , @saadiazahidi , @zshamsuna , @ndidinwuneli , @shamsoutandabout , @dr.vera.songwe and @dr.emuwa among many other changemakers.

2.1 billion people still rely on polluting sources of energy and technologies to cook #food. The smoke from indoor air pollution causes 3.2 million premature deaths every year. In #Nigeria, we are piloting innovative electric #cooking technologies for small businesses, improving #health and helping entrepreneurs earn more.

Today is #WorldHealthDay! 1 billion people are served by #healthcare facilities with unreliable or no access to #electricity. Electrifying healthcare facilities is a prerequisite for universal #health coverage and resilient health systems. On this World Health Day, let us commit to powering every health facility, because when we power health, we save lives.

As women's month comes to an end, I would like to take a moment to celebrate all the #women who are working hard to transform their communities, countries and the world. When women participate fully in technical roles, leadership and decision-making, #energy systems become more innovative, resilient and effective. In a recent piece I wrote for @time , I highlight that the #energytransition is not a trade-off, it is a multiplier, and this moment calls for urgency without exclusion, ambition without delay and cooperation across borders and sectors. Governments, the private sector, development banks, philanthropies, civil society and citizens must align around a shared goal: ensuring #energy for all.
