In conflict, civilians always pay the highest price.
War is not the answer.
Today and always, we need peace.

“Children are paying an intolerable price for escalating militarised operations and settler attacks across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.”
@unicef Spokesperson @james_unicef says that since January 2025, at least one Palestinian child has been killed, on average, every week.
“93% of those children were killed by Israeli forces. A further 850 children were injured. Most of those children killed or wounded were by live ammunition,” he says.
UNICEF is supporting children and their families in the West Bank to access safe water, sanitation and healthcare, and by providing cash assistance, learning materials, and psychosocial care.

When heritage is destroyed, humanity loses part of its shared history.
In Gaza, 164 heritage sites have been damaged — but efforts to protect what remains are already underway. Our @unesco colleagues are on the ground helping stabilize structures, support local workers and assist communities in preserving their cultural foundations.
Protecting heritage is an important part of supporting people through crisis and recovery. It goes beyond preservation, helping safeguard identity and cultural memory for future generations.
Forests are essential for life on Earth, helping regulate the climate, sustain biodiversity and support the livelihoods of billions of people. Yet nearly 500 million hectares have disappeared since 1990.
The good news: thanks to progress in sustainable management, restoration and governance, one fifth of forests are now protected and deforestation is slowing worldwide.
However, gains remain uneven and forest loss continues in several regions.
More ambitious climate action is urgently needed to protect our planet and our common future.

Anisa, Farnoosh and Freshta attend a school in one of #Afghanistan’s most remote communities, in Ghor province, where basic services are extremely limited.
Thanks to a new water system installed by @unicef , the girls and their classmates now have access to clean, safe water.
The sustainable system is equipped with protective walls and durable infrastructure. It runs around the clock, providing essential water to the school’s 400 students.
