Today’s our birthday! 🎂
We’re celebrating 113 years of big bets, real results. Scroll through to see the breakthroughs we’ve achieved throughout our history.
Take it from Baltimore Mayor @mayorbmscott and Cleveland Mayor @justinmbibb at our Big Bets for America: Baltimore convening last month: legacy cities can make a comeback.
Climate change is a major threat to our health, but just how much of a threat is still within our control.
A new report from @worldresources shows us that by investing in early prevention tools like warning systems and disease surveillance, we can save lives and create stronger communities, health systems, and economies.
We could save millions of lives by investing in tools and services that prepare communities and health systems in low- and middle-income countries to address climate-related health threats.
A new report from @WorldResources outline the high returns from investing in climate-health tools and resources like early warning systems, disease surveillance, and more.

spent last week with @rockefellerfdn at the AfricaXchange summit talking about how global and local partnerships can genuinely build capacity for communities
and then we spent a day with SokoFresh and everything clicked in a very real way
for SokoFresh and small scale avocado farmers, through clean energy, inclusive finance, and infrastructure support, all supported by the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, CLASP, and the Rockefeller Foundation, small-scale farmers are being connected to global markets in ways that are already changing livelihoods
the most powerful part was hearing it directly— women openly sharing how much more they’re earning (which is soooo un-Kenyan to say, we don’t even like to say the prices of things 😭).
employment for women has grown from 20% to 40%, and beyond the numbers, there’s a real shift toward economic independence. I loved that so much.
genuinely loved learning this, and loved being a part of the #creatorImmersion program, curated by @studiounconventionalke , amplifying such stories 💙

At last week’s Big Bets for America convening in Baltimore, @iamwesmoore and @drrajivjshah reinforced a powerful idea: Our communities already have the solutions—we just have to think bigger.
#AfricaXchange 2026 (convened by @rockefellerfdn and @hiltonfoundation ) reminded us ;
Africa’s problem is not ideas.
It’s execution.
It’s how capital moves.
It’s how systems work (or don’t).
One speaker challenged us saying that If scarcity was the only issue, charity would have solved it.
But it hasn’t.
We need structure.
We need ownership.
We need to see young people as builders, not beneficiaries.
And we need to change how we tell our stories because narratives are costing us billions.
Lastly, Africa cannot wait for certainty to keep building, we build anyway!
Here’s 🥂 to all of us contributing to build the Africa We want
Thank you @rockefellerfdn and @studiounconventionalke for inviting me through the #Creatorimmersion
Daily learnings 🍀: I think my character development from farming may have just been healed. Systems thinking is my new approach to building, and I had a great experience learning from the avocado value chain and how they cracked the code! @studiounconventionalke this was such a great experience. It just shows your little intervention has the possibility to result in impactful outcomes.
Because of the @rockefellerfdn entities like @globalenergyalliance and @sokofreshkenya have been able to partner and support local farmers to access global markets and maximize their efforts to generate 400k+ per acre from their produce.
Now that’s the role of philanthropy; it’s about supporting our small interventions in a meaningful way.

730 million people still lack access to basic electricity, and billions more don’t have enough to power opportunity or a path to prosperity.
That means being locked out of education, healthcare, economic opportunity — and the chance to thrive.
The Rockefeller Foundation is making a Big Bet on Universal Energy Abundance, because we believe every person deserves access to the reliable and affordable energy they need to live, work, and thrive.
From Nigeria to Haiti to Rajasthan, we're working alongside governments, communities, and partners to make it happen. Swipe to see how. ➡️

I visited @sokofreshkenya in Thika recently - and left almost ready to quit everything and just sell avos. Almost.
.
But here’s what stopped me: farming is HARD. And the people doing it have been getting the short end of the stick for too long - underpaid, locked out of export markets, and drained by middlemen taking cuts they never earned.
.
@sokofreshkenya is flipping that script:
✅ Trained pickers come to YOUR farm - zero cost to you
✅ Transport to packing sites - zero cost to you
✅ Farmer groups set up for export with Global GAP certification - zero cost to you
✅ Up to 40% reduction in post-harvest losses
✅ 100% payment to the farmer instantly! On the farm! Pap!
If the farmer does the work, they should see the money. Full stop.
.
This is what real agricultural support looks like - and it’s backed by @rockefellerfdn , connecting Kenyan farmers to global markets.
.
The avocado is already world-famous.
It’s time the farmer gets that same recognition.
.
👇 Tag an avocado farmer - or tag yourself if that’s YOU and share this post if it resonates and Let’s get these farmers seen.

Progress doesn't come from perfect plans. It comes from the courage to act.
This week in Nairobi, 400+ leaders across energy, health, food, and finance gathered at #AfricaXchange 2026 — not to talk about Africa's future, but to build it.
We also celebrated 60 years of our Africa Regional Office and welcomed the inaugural class of Africa Big Bets Fellows: 10 changemakers across six countries driving bold, community-led solutions.
Africa is home to 11 of the 15 fastest-growing economies in the world. AfricaXchange exists to match that momentum with the capital, policy, and partnerships to sustain it.
