Clear Her Path: Aum Pema’s Harvest of Hope from The Kingdom of Bhutan 🌾 ✨
In the fields of Haa district BHUTAN, I met a woman who didn’t wait for change…she became it. From plowing with oxen to driving machines, building greenhouses, and leading her community. Aum Pema is not just farming; she’s redefining respect.
Her children now say, “My mother feeds our village.” And that says everything. From soil to strength, from struggle to leadership, her journey reminds us of something powerful:
When you clear the path for a woman, she doesn’t just walk. She brings an entire community with her.
To every woman watching, you are stronger than the path.
This travelogue was produced in partnership with the @worldbankgroup #ClearHerPath campaign for women’s economic empowerment.

A real shift is happening in women's economic opportunity — and the data tell a striking story. The countries making the biggest leaps are ones that started with the largest gaps: Egypt🇪🇬, Madagascar🇲🇬, Somalia🇸🇴, Oman🇴🇲, Jordan🇯🇴, and the Kyrgyz Republic🇰🇬. They're removing barriers to work, closing pay gaps, expanding parental leave, and putting more women in leadership.
