The @trackbrewingco Westie endeavour gets better and better! This one is certainly punchy, it’s got a solid bitterness, super clean and visual (despite the codes action on the glass) very clear! Not sure I’ve had an eclipse westie before but it works well!

Wonderful to get down to the @gravitywellbrewing taproom yesterday with @justjohn and really it’s almost as close some of the @blackhorsebeermile venues so I’ve got no excuse! We had a few beers in the taproom before hitting some other excellent Leyton/stone places and this DIPA really stood out. Big bold citra and simcoe hops, incredible smooth body. Such an underrated brewery! The beer is stunning. Will be back at the taproom soon!

Opps, just realised this is rather on the wonk and not straight in. It’ll annoy me far@more than you can imagine! @anyway really enjoyed these @trackbrewingco sonoma specials. This is the 2025 hand select hop version. It’s lovely, might have preferred the other version that came out but this is great - like @jcrawley81 I too am a huge fan of this beer. Long live Sonoma. Love the illustrations in these designs @ahcreative_

Dreaming of… peacharine from @trackbrewingco , an unctuous hazy IPA with a big hit of ripe stones fruits with a clean, fresh, citrusy finish. One of my favourite from this series I think!

Thing I’ve had this @beakbrewery DIPA for a while but it’s tasting really decent, krush is very prominent and working well alongside Citra. Great creaminess to the body with rich grapefruit and tropical notes and a touch of bitterness on the finish making it a very drinkable beer. Loved it! Looking foreward to the @thesehillsfest glass (and festival obviously) this year!

Orange county from @lefthandedgiantbrewing and @greencheekbeer bringing my this gorgeous west coast pils. Reminded me of a great one I had down at LSBB last year at Verdant. Some classic hops with simcoe, citra and mosaic giving those dank pithy flavours but a real crisp and light feel. Lovely stuff! Cannot wait for LSBB this year. Who is heading down?

Last but by no means least was a trip to @thenorthstarpub up in Leytonstone. I’ve only been a couple of times because I’ve always thought it was a bit of a faff to get to but actually it’s 20 mins by bike (may arrive slightly sweaty BUT very thirsty) Anyhow, really good selection on keg and cask. It was a fairly short visit and I was here for the @twoflintsbrewery parallel series but I’d love to tackle some of those other beers - soon! The parallel series beers were great and I need to track down some of the cans to enjoy more leisurely. This pub also does really good food too, I lucked out as they were serving their Thai menu (also doing pizza from @papismunchies which I had last time and was really good!) The thai dish (recommended by the lovely staff) was a duck noodle special and was so good - it’s reason alone to come back let alone the beer selection. So a really good week for beers out and about. Any suggestions for the next places to visit?

Super pint of @pillarsbrewery helles at the wonderful @suttonarms . I was here for the launch of their collab radler which was very refreshing and will be spot on once that sun really kicks in. Anyway, this helles was pouring alongside and it was fantastic and poured perfectly. Lovely to spend some time with @peterckennelly that evening too. Pillars are celebrating their 10th year this year so keep an eye out for what they’re up to. Some exciting brews coming!

A little round up of some exceedingly good beer this week that have been on stories but worthy of the grid. It’s also a little reminder to go support brilliant, dedicated, indie venues. This was the exceptional @thekernelbrewery who had a tap takeover @wenlockarms - unfortunately I couldn’t make the evening but luckily they were still pouring the next day. Spring pale ale featuring eclipse, well balanced and very refreshing. Expertly poured by @samsonarnettroughley who has a hypnotic way of pouring beers. I haven’t spent enough time in this pub so must make more trips this year. Excellent selection of cask kept superbly and great keg although I invariably tuck into the selection on the hand pulls.

The second in the collab between @beakbrewery and @flocbrewing - this one’s a bit zippier sharp then a lovely tangerine and tropical finish. Think this one might pip the other threads… just. Really nice.

One of the all time greats, @trackbrewingco Sonoma. Can’t get enough of it. Despite so many breweries and new beers coming out, whenever I go somewhere and see Sonoma, on cask or keg I’ll get it. It’s just magic and holds some nostalgia from when I first had it. Anyway this version contains the hand selected @yakimachief ā€˜25 hops along with cryo mosaic on the dry hop. It’s like your Renault 5 turbo version. Souped up, fun and intense and keeps a smile on your face each sip. But obviously don’t drink and drive! Perhaps a rather shit analogy in hindsight! Anyhow - lovely lovely beer. Long may it continue and flourish! Forever beautiful artwork from @ahcreative_

Very much enjoying these nights getting lighter. Just wish the heat turned up a touch. Anyway. Friday, beers. Thanks to @seanislegend for a little @beakbrewery haul. Thought it only fair to kick off with this collab with @flocbrewing - back again this year. Very much enjoyed last years version. I mean these two breweries arguably make the fluffiest hazies. This is bang on the money, Nelson sauvin and NZ cascade. Glorious, getting that winey hit which works really beautifully with a soft body but a harmonious herbal bitterness just to ground it. Excellent stuff.
